Week 6: Investigation

At around 2 in the morning, a steady rain of hail started to cover the town of Cartesio. The night continued, however, with the motel unbothered, aside from the plink-plink on the roof and windows.

This morning, you'll find the weather's started to let up, though the streets are still blanketed by hail. Mercifully, that's all that's outside the motel this morning. No corpses, no robot remains. That alone should make you feel better, right?

But no. It seems...the town's very alert this morning. There's a strange energy in the air, not just from the Sergeant's horrible threat. Something's off in Cartesio, and you probably recognize that feeling. This has happened four times before, after all.

[ The inside of the building is smokey and damp. Looks like sprinklers caught a growing fire, before it became too much of a problem. However, they couldn't catch everything. The smoke seems to be coming from a little further into the library. Follow it? ]

[DOES HE HAVE TO? Osomatsu sighs, following. all these damp books. what else is up ahead?]

[ The smokey smell will lead you to the children's section, where something very not suitable for children has happened, given the obvious signs of a fight.

And the person, poking out from underneath an overturned bookcase, right in the center of the smokey area. ]

[Well.. fuck. Time to try and lift the bookshelf away to try and see who's pinned underneath.]

Gonna need you hellp, buddy.

[that's... that's a body over there]

...Right.

[he hesitantly steps over to help Keith move the bookcase. he doesn't want to, but he needs to. who is under here?]

[ You won't need to move it that far, at least to see who it is, as the person's head is the part poking out. You'll find the person under it has really not had a good time. Aside from the obvious signs of being trapped under a heavy piece of furniture, they are severely burned, eyes wide open.

It could a mercy, that he's no longer living. After all, he didn't want to be, to begin with.

Osamu Dazai is dead. ]

[....Dazai.

Keith's quiet for a long moment, saying nothing as he just tries to clear all the books off Dazai's body. Eventually he manages to say something utterly flat and toneless.]

Looks like he put up a real fight.

[DID HE THOUGH? Osomatsu... didn't really talk to Dazai much. he'll leave the whole body investigating up to Keith, but he'll linger around the library to help gather evidence]

Guess we better look around here for clues.

[She doesn’t notice the firefighters as quickly as the two boys, so it’s only after they’ve found the body that she comes in. She blinks once, twice, expression growing tight with pain.]

...Yeah, looks like he did.

[She's getting a look at that. No words because there's nothing he could say that'd make this better, but have a gentle reminder that he'll listen if you need someone to talk to later.]
