Week 6: Trial

The atmosphere at the courtroom is different this time. Although people are filling the tribunes, not everyone seems to be furious with the outsiders. Some are scowling and looking at them with outrage, others are cautiously wary of them. Unhappy, but not about to snap anyone's neck.

The Sergeant waited until everyone was at their spots, and counted them:

"Our numbers are dwindling. It's surprising, I admit. I thought there'd be more of you at this point"

Not that it's inconvenient. It's just surprising. The number of podiums belonging to the deceased prove just how many have perished. Several of you may be feeling a bit lonely in the sea of black velvet.

"Wayne Uedera, Osamu Dazai. They're the victims this time. Good luck, everybody. Here's my help to you all, like last time, vote for as many as you consider necessary:

I'm still wondering about the things that were missing, or just moved, in the hunting store. Why was there fabric belonging to a raincoat in the trash? Also we've found the missing knife, but did anyone find the matches and flint that were part of the campfire kit?

That could have been what caused the fire at the library. [Dabi wouldn't necessarily have to be the person to cause a fire, if there was a fire.]

I'm kinda wondering about the timeline for that. Like... Did they cut the raincoat up before they left with the other stuff, or did they cut it after it was burned and then come back to the hunting store to drop the fabric there? Either one seems... Weird.

Yeah, very weird. I'm wondering if there was more than one raincoat taken. But it sure looked like only one was missing.

Do you think the culprit-san might still have them...? I don't remember hearing or seeing the matches, unless that's what the ashes were...

Either they still have 'em, or... they could've gotten rid of 'em.

The matches and flint might have been burnt up at the library.

About that bookcase we lifted off Dazai. You said the front of it was also burned and it wasn't just the back, right? Were there any traces of oil from that lamp on the front or was it only on the back?

[hmm...]

There was a scorch mark on the front, and the bigger burn on the back. But... [was there any oil from the lamp on the front of the bookcase?]

[ There was not. ]

[mmm, yeah, the fire had not burned all the way through the bookcase]

I couldn't find any oil on the front of the bookcase. So I don't think that's where the scorch mark came from.
