[Their numbers keep falling. Three people have died already this week, with two more on the way tomorrow. With the outburst the townspeople gave them once the results came through... If anyone were feeling downhearted, it's to be expected at this point. Things continuing at their current pace is a frightening thought, after all. Like last week, the offer to spend time together or meet in a central location doesn't come.

Hawks and Dabi wait for the morning in their cells, but the rest of the tourists are free to wander about the town as they please; free to rest, to talk with each other, and to try to gather strength wherever they can. So, where does the evening find you, Cartesio?]

[ like last week, bolin is in the park after the trial. he's got a stack of rocks at his side but he's not really. doing anything with them. he's stomping onto the ground and raising one up so it hovers at his side, but then he lets it drop before heaving out a sigh ]

[hm. Bolin is actually someone who Osomatsu seeks out after the trial. he doesn't have a difficult time finding him, finding him at the park, playing with rocks. that's pretty cool! though Bolin doesn't seem too happy.

honestly, that's no surprise. he was just picked to execute someone]

...Yo. [he walks over after Bolin sighs, hands tucked away in his pockets. it's still cold outside]

[ He raises the rock again and drops it before looking at Osomatsu. He takes a step away from the pile and weakly offers him a small wave. ]

Hey, Osomatsu.

[man, Bolin looks so upset, and Osomatsu doesn't even know what he can do for him]

I'm not gonna ask how you're feelin', 'cause it's probably "cruddy." ...But if you wanna talk, I'm all ears.

[tuffguy]

--I don't even know where to begin, so it might be kinda rambly if that's alright?

Rambly's fine. [he leans against a tree] It's just better t'get that stuff out sometimes.

Right, so...

[ takes a deep breath ]

So, I'm really starting to regret already volunteering for execution but at the same time I'm not regretting it as much as I thought I would. Considering Dabi's... well, everything, I'm probably the one with the best chance of taking him down. I probably have more experience fighting against people who can bend fire than anyone here, and I don't wanna risk Kino or Keith getting hurt because they couldn't do anything.

And like, knowing that people are getting killed is way different from actually being the one to do it.

[he listens, taking the words in and nodding here and there]

[ he nods there ]

Yeah, he got it from our mom, since she was from the Fire Nation. Dad was from the Earth Kingdom, which is where I got my earthbending. Before he became a cop and I became an actor, we were probenders.

Probending is like, one of the best sports ever.

[could is the word he should have used, there, since Mako is... well, never mind. Osomatsu will just go on]

Two teams made up of an earthbender, a firebender, and a waterbender fight each other in an arena that's above a pool of water. The goal is to basically to either knock the enemy team into the water or control most of the territory in the arena.

[oh, interesting! Osomatsu is starting to realize that 'bending' is the word that means that a person can control that element. at least in Bolin's world]

That sounds exciting! So, it was a sport, you said? Like, with people watching?

Yeah, a whole stadium full of people! And matches are played live on the radio and are in the newspapers and everything.

[whoa! so Bolin is the equivalent of a sports star! from sports star to cop. that's badass]

Oh, man! That's totally cool! Were you really popular?

[tuffguy]

Our team, the Fire Ferrets, was definitely the best one. We made it to the finals in our last season together.

[relieable]

[yay! that's so good to hear, especially during this... this mess]

Whoo! The Fire Ferrets! A good name!

We called us because of Pabu, my pet fire ferret.

...What even is a fire ferret? [he knows what a ferret is, at least, so it must be... some sort of animal, since Bolin called it a pet]

Oh! It's a small animal about this big [ holds his hands at like ferret size ], red, and the best animal friend you could ever ask for.

[that's charming, actually, but it doesn't really describe what it looks like. that's fine! Osomatsu will just imagine it]

Ahaha, cute. [he shifts his posture a bit, getting more comfortable] Man, I wish I could see some probending matches in action.

[tuffguy]

Yeah, I wish I could show you! I wanna show everyone what probending's like. It's what got Mako and me off the streets, you know.

Ah, yeah... Well, maybe you could show us this week. Just do, like, a little earthbending show.

[tuffguy]

I could probably do it. It'll be a little similiar for what I did for the variety show.

Yeah! That was a lot of fun! [a pause] I mean, what you did. Not the, uh... you know. [the dying part]

Yeah! I mean, it's more excited as I'm dodging fire blasts and earth disks and water jets, but it still shouldn't be too bad, right?
