Week 0: Investigation

The deadline is fast approaching and the one thing that should be on everyone’s minds is, “what’s going to happen now?” Last night there was a strong thunderstorm, and thanks to it the air still feels cold, moist, and even a little murky. Droplets of water cover many surfaces outside, and there are few clouds hanging in the sky. It’s rather fitting weather given, in just a few hours, all of your lives will be claimed. Have you made peace with this seemingly unavoidable outcome?

Whether you have or haven’t, it would appear your musings are doomed to be interrupted. Outside the motel sirens can be heard as a patrol car zooms by. Maybe nothing’s wrong, and maybe it’s something unrelated to everyone’s current situation.

...but, even if it is, how many of you can really sit around and do nothing? The events of the 30th proved how eager to help some of you are—enough so to put even your own lives in danger.

Abruptly, the patrol car makes a sharp turn and disappears out of sight.

[ Well, I mean, she investigates murders, so there are worse people to find it. She's never seen this little of a corpse, mind, but she keeps a cool head.

Is it clear how the limbs were removed? Were they disarticulated, or were the bones cut through? Are there any other wounds on the torso, besides the obvious? Anything that could potentially be cause of death? Is it clear whether she was dead or alive when she was dismembered? ]

[Judging by the cuts, the limbs were cut with a serrated object. That must have cut through the bones.

There's also another wound, on the abdominal area. It's deformed due to having been underneath the water, but it's there.

It's not possible to know if Lovepon was alive or dead when she was dismembered, unfortunately]

[ Dead seems like a safe bet, given the abdominal wound - it wouldn't be necessary if she was dead already - but she won't assume anything until she pulls the shirt out of the way to get a closer look.

How big a wound is it? Is it clear how it was made? Knife, bullet, something else? ]

[It's not clear what made it, nor what shape it had originally. The skin is disturbed underneath, which also doesn't help to keep it intact.

What Naoto will be able to tell is that it's a small hole, around half a centimeter wide at most. What caused it is a mystery, but it's an open wound]

[ Half a centimeter... in other words, about the size of a .22 caliber bullet.

Naoto flips the torso over. Is there an exit wound? ]

[Whatever wound this is didn't reach the other side of the body]

[ If that's the case, the bullet should still be inside the body, but Naoto lacks the tools to retrieve it, unless she were to go in through the waist, which, gross.

She gives the area a momentary look, but thinks better of it. ]
