Welcome Party

Though you've never seen the casino before, it is easy to find today. This is partly attributable to the music spilling from open doors right into the town. The people of Cartesio have made good on their announcement - doubtlessly, there is a party going on here.

Anyone entering will be confronted with a friendly citizen pulling them aside to inform them of their dress rental service. Though it is called 'rental' there is no actual fee to be paid. The townspeople have simply brought a collection of suits and cocktail dresses into the casino foyer and they are offering to lend them out for the occasion. A folding screen to get changed behind is provided as well.

Once you venture deeper into the casino, you'll find yourself in a surprisingly spacious room. Tables that might normally occupy the open space have been pushed to the wall and filled with various buffet foods. Though you might be tempted to spend your whole afternoon trying out the various local specialties, the rhythmic music from the speakers tries to lure you to the dancefloor. A few locals are already swinging their hips to the beat.

Though if you're simply looking for the main highlight of a casino, you won't have to look long either. Across from the buffet, you will find a wide variety of game machines. Pachinko, slot machines.... even a few odd-one-out games that look like they should rather belong in an arcade. Try your luck, try your skill! If you prove successful, an employee is waiting to hand out various fun goods to you.

There are quite a few townspeople in attendance on this party, but there is a silent understanding that you tourists are the VIPs here. Anywhere you go, any game you want to try, the citizens are quick to move aside for you and let you have the maximum amount of fun.

[Wearing a little black dress, Niwatori could blend in or stand out depending on your tastes. She's sitting rather contentedly in front of a video poker machine, sipping a bright red virgin cocktail. It almost seems like she's in her own world... except that sometimes she glances out watchfully at the dance floor, or occasionally at the more arcade-like games with curiosity. Her profile does say she likes video games, but she's never really bothered with this style where you play with a friend. (After all, what are those???) ...But without any prodding, staying here seems good enough. Playing a skill game against a machine just seems like it'd have the better prize odds.]

Hehe... [Oh boy, this kind of attention, huh. Well, she'll be cheerful enough about it. Not like he's some gross old man, anyway.]

[This might be suggestive but she has an innocent look on her face.]

You mean Pachinko! I've played them before, they're pretty popular. They don't have anything to do with chickens either, or maybe I'd put more effort into them.

[She leans back in the chair then, open to possibilities.]

Rubbing the back of his head as he thinks about how to increase luck. Look, he's actually going to try to be serious about this. ]

Normally you're supposed to get someone to blow on the dice, right? [ But it's a screen? So... he'll just lean over and blow on the screen. That works, right? ]

Well, Niwatori just bursts out laughing.]

[Otherwise he looked pretty silly doing that. She'll have the game deal her the hand he got her. How lucky IS he, though?]

[ Usually his ideas work out for the best, so pretty lucky. Even if it bombs, he'll have no regrets. ]

[They have computers where Millium's from, but they don't really do anything like this, so she's more than a bit mystified as she hops up to take a seat beside Niwatori. Some kind of computer card game? She can figure that much out.

Cards, huh? Those sure bring with them some memories, and ones she's not really sure she wants to deal with right now. So instead, how about she pipes up with something completely different?]

That drink's a pretty color. What is it?

Oh - it's a virgin daiquiri! I got it in raspberry flavor.

[Berries are nice! Birds like to eat them off the bush.]

If you want to go play with those machines over there you should hurry. I have seen a few looking at them with interest.

[Hello... that dude whose profile called him a "minion." Weird thing to be called, really.... perhaps it explains why he's trying to be helpful over such a trivial matter. She regards him curiously, and then the machine.]

Oh, so it really is popular... I was just wondering why they'd put some just for fun games in with all the gambling ones. Can't say I know what that one's about though! Have you played it?

Never before. I didn't have a lot of money before I arrived here -- and snce I'm here, I should give it a try. My luck may be good enough for this!

[He sure hopes, because losing a lot would be depressing]

I see, so you'll play the game now that you can afford it. I don't think that one gives a prize, but games can be pretty fun. I have a little experience with, um, console games, at least.
