April 7th - Welcome Party

Welcome Party
Though you've never seen the casino before, it is easy to find today. This is partly attributable to the music spilling from open doors right into the town. The people of Cartesio have made good on their announcement - doubtlessly, there is a party going on here.
Anyone entering will be confronted with a friendly citizen pulling them aside to inform them of their dress rental service. Though it is called 'rental' there is no actual fee to be paid. The townspeople have simply brought a collection of suits and cocktail dresses into the casino foyer and they are offering to lend them out for the occasion. A folding screen to get changed behind is provided as well.
Once you venture deeper into the casino, you'll find yourself in a surprisingly spacious room. Tables that might normally occupy the open space have been pushed to the wall and filled with various buffet foods. Though you might be tempted to spend your whole afternoon trying out the various local specialties, the rhythmic music from the speakers tries to lure you to the dancefloor. A few locals are already swinging their hips to the beat.
Though if you're simply looking for the main highlight of a casino, you won't have to look long either. Across from the buffet, you will find a wide variety of game machines. Pachinko, slot machines.... even a few odd-one-out games that look like they should rather belong in an arcade. Try your luck, try your skill! If you prove successful, an employee is waiting to hand out various fun goods to you.
There are quite a few townspeople in attendance on this party, but there is a silent understanding that you tourists are the VIPs here. Anywhere you go, any game you want to try, the citizens are quick to move aside for you and let you have the maximum amount of fun.

[ Guess who did actually dress up using the rental service. He's over at the buffet snagging a plate. ]
Whoa. Get a load of this food, yo.
[ Games ]
[ Let's try playing the pachinko machine! Once he hits the thing, he hits the thing, he watches as the ball roll down a path and fail to hit any of the goals. ]
Huh? Is that all it really does?
[ He'll give it a few more times after this because he's trying to figure out what's the deal.
Later, he'll move on to the slots. They are a lot more his speed with the lights and actually knowing what is going on. ]

Well, yes, but it's still based on luck, you know. And even then, it's kind of a shame that they're just doing the really simple kind, because I've heard these things can get really flashy.

You can find Bolin at the Buffet where he's comically loading a plate sky high with all sorts of different foods. He's pausing as he finishes placing a small rack of ribs onto the plate, considering it. ] Hmm, is this enough?
[ Or you might just find him on the Dance Floor, where's he's dancing some sort of Charleston.
Bolin might even be found creeping around the Game Machines. He's not getting anywhere close to them just yet, but he's eyeing them with some sort of hesitant interest. ] Hmm, so there's machines for this sort of thing...

You've forgotten dessert! Unless you were planning to come back later?

[Kino opts for a slick black suit and promptly wanders over to the buffet table to indulge in the heaps and heaps of food available. If the teen seems a bit agitated, it's probably your imagination.
At least the food's good.]
[Games]
[Kino actually does play, starting off with pachinko. The lights are a bit befuddling, and there's definitely some balls spent figuring out how it works, but soon enough Kino is operating the crank with swift and precise movements, occasionally glancing around again between plays. It seems the traveler's heart just isn't in the game...
Kino can probably be coaxed into other games; from the looks of it, they probably need something a little more engaging.]

[The music is strange, to say the least, but there's a small mercy: the rental service had decent eveningwear. It became obvious the instant he stepped out from behind the screen that he was overdressed, but Eric's stubborn if he's nothing else. He's foregone the hat, obviously, and stands watching the dancers with no small amount of confusion. It's the right speed for some kind of two-step, or maybe a very fast tango, and yet....]
I have no idea what they're doing, but... care to join me anyway?
GAMING:
[With no money to lose, there's no reason to hesitate. The slot machines are the only thing he recognizes, so naturally he gravitates towards those... but then the arcade games catch his eye.]
All right, explain this to me as though I've never seen one before. Please?

[She looks more interested in the dance floor; though she doesn't actually move onto it at any point, she can be found leaning against a nearby wall, positioned close to the speakers. She's an expert at being a wallflower, but she does at least glance in the direction of anyone who approaches.
Overall, she doesn't stay in the casino too long, but before she leaves, she can be found glancing over the game machines. She won't try one herself without prompting, but she does glance towards anyone currently using one, enough to be noticeable.]

She ignores the buffet entirely and initially skips the dance floor as well, heading straight for the games. She spends some time inspecting them, wasting a few plays on figuring out how they work. Then she starts playing pinball very determinedly. For someone who didn't know what a flipper was a few minutes ago, she's surprisingly good!
Later, she's unsurprisingly ungood at dancing, just kind of awkwardly stepping back and forth like she's never done this in her 28? 98? however many years of her life.]

but casinos, like the ones that he's seen in movies? he's never been to one. he doesn't have money to travel, so it's always been a dream of his to go to one... now, here one is, available to him. he swears he must have died and gone to heaven. he's ready to have the night of his life.
he cleans up nice, that's for sure. but he's still the same Osomatsu deep down. he's still a guy who has never been to a party, so he's kind of awkward. don't mind him as he crams every bit of food onto a small plate at the buffet. he likes to eat. and drink. sometimes the food doesn't even make it to the plate at all. he just picks it up and shovels it into his mouth. he's eating fast because he wants to get to the games.
he does look at the dance floor, kind of like a deer in the headlights. he doesn't dance, but he sort of wants to...
finally, Osomatsu makes it over to the machines. he's pleasantly surprised to see pachinko there! he'll come back to that, for sure, but he wants to try other types of machines he's never played before. he works on a slot machine for a little while, drawn in by the bright colors and loud sounds. you can talk to him, if you want. he doesn't seem to be having very much luck. but what does he care? he's got a debit card with money on it! and he's going to spend, spend, spend!]

Most of the party, you can find her by the buffet though she is not eating much. She's more like... slowly nibbling on a small bowl of carrot salad. Though she makes no move to approach people, she'll greet anyone who comes to stand with her with a smile and say: ]
These people really have no idea what the sergeant wants us to do, huh?
[ Sometime later into the evening, you can find her at the border of the dance floor, gently swaying to them softer song. She is definitely not stepping onto the dance floor though, no sir.
And then at some point, you'll find Cian eyeing the actual game machines with a mixture of horror and awe. Gambling... she's only heard of it in Miach's fantastic tales of the past. Never did she think such a den of wasteful behaviour would ever be entered by herself. ]
Here for gaming, maybe later for dancing

[Keith looks like he'd rather eat shit than be at a party, but there's a new place in town and what's he going to do - not look around? That said, he ignored the hell out of the suggestion to change into a suit and is still wearing his armor (keet pls). Find him just standing by the wall doing some people watching. Invite him to dance, it'll be hilarious.]
games
[He can also be found playing blackjack at one of the tables, looking serious as all hell. Is he contemplating his next move? Is he calculating the probability that the next card will take him over twenty one? Or...]
Why is this called blackjack? There are at least two red jacks in a deck of cards, that name doesn't make any sense.
[Alternatively, he can also be found sitting in an arcade style race car game. He drives like a kindly old man. By which I mean, he's an utter menace who seems to only know two speeds: fast and faster.]

vague CS/2 spoilers!!
[Millium has found a cute blue party dress that she'll be wearing around for the day. She looks every bit the part of a little lady...
...too bad, then, that there's nothing in this world that can make her act like one.
She's taken a seat and has a number of plates strewn in front of her. She's cheerily making her way through one now, face and hands a mess as her dress is only protected by the napkin she made the smart decision of tucking in at her neckline.
There is a veritable mountain of food on the plate she's working on, and another plate sits close by with a second mountain of food. There are three other empty plates on the table.
Where the heck is she putting all this food...?!]
[games, a]
[After cleaning herself up from her meal, Millium makes her way over to the games.
Being thirteen and from JRPG Germany, has absolutely no idea what she's looking at with most of these. She wanders among the machines for a while, examining them with wide eyes and taking in the sights and sounds.
Eventually, she'll wander over to the arcade games, attracted by the bright, colorful graphics. Her first stop is a skee-ball machine, where upon starting it, she takes a ball in hand and looks between it and the netting over the goals.]
But the holes in the net are gonna be too small to get the ball through...
[She is not aware that you are not supposed to chuck the ball directly at the goals. Someone, please teach this child how to play before she breaks something.]
[games, b]
[Okay, arcade funtimes aside, there's the machines she's been kind of trying to avoid.
She hasn't been in a casino before, but she knows what slot machines are, knows what gambling is. And neither of those things would really bother her, if not for... well.
Memories. She can still see that teasing grin in her head, still feel his hand ruffling her hair. And she knows, she knows they were enemies, she knows she shouldn't feel anything for him after all that he did. It's wrong, especially with her as an Ironblood.
She can still see that smile in his last few minutes, telling her he was glad to have met her.
He would have loved this place, she thinks.
The memories make her chest hurt. She understands a little better now why, but it's hard not to feel like something's wrong. Especially when this whole atmosphere is so lively and happy... the locals wouldn't want her to be sad, right? She doesn't want to be sad, either.
Maybe she'll try to make something of these. She hops up onto a stool in front of a machine, intentionally picking one that goes with a typical card suite theme. It seems fitting, for the reason she's doing this at all.]
All right... [She says, to no one in particular.] I'm doin' this for you, so can you at least not totally ruin my luck today?
[She'll be over here at this slot machine for a while, then, if anyone wants to come by and talk to her. She could probably use the distraction – sitting alone in this feeling isn't the most comfortable.]

He's not dancing though, screw that. Or wearing a full suit. He's just gotten smart pants, a shirt and waistcoat. His hair is still a ratty mess.
H's just messing about on the games. Having found some punch bag ones. Hit as hard as you can, hit as many times as you can. He's pretty good at both and seems to be making a point of annoying one of the locals, by holding back then breaking the poor guy's record whenever the guy tries again.
Later he's going to the buffet. You think he's passing up free food? Hell no, he's getting a bit of everything. He's got no intention of talking at the moment, cause FOOD.]

[Halfway through the party, Franciscus disappears back towards the suit rental, and comes out in a crimson cocktail dress with golden trim and a rather long trail. He daintily picks it up as he sweeps onto the dance floor, twirling around to show it off. He actually pulls it off quite well, and he'll give anyone watching a cheeky grin.]
Game Machines
[Later on, after he gets tired of twirling around, Franciscus can be found checking out a few of the games, including sitting at one slot machine for a surprisingly long time. He's found a notepad somewhere and seems to be taking notes on the various results he gets.]

Just like back home, Jughead's place of refuge is the diner, where he's sat himself next to the window, with view of the doors. With an order of a burger and fries and some coffee and a shake, he's ready to work.
And work he does, scrawling in his notebook after periods of thoughtful looks out of the window. Though he's pretty in the zone, he does turn to look at any customers that come in, almost as if snapped out of a trance.]

in the afternoon, oda is at the hunting shop, but not looking for weapons. if anyone follows the sound of gunshots, then they'll find him at the shooting range, shooting at the targets with a neutral expression on his face.
later in the evening, he can be found at the diner, but he doesn't seem to be eating dinner. there's only a cup of coffee next to a notebook that he seems to be staring at with an expression that might be described as conflicted.
eventually he'll give up with it, focusing only on drinking his coffee and looking out the window. ]
