Welcome Party

Though you've never seen the casino before, it is easy to find today. This is partly attributable to the music spilling from open doors right into the town. The people of Cartesio have made good on their announcement - doubtlessly, there is a party going on here.

Anyone entering will be confronted with a friendly citizen pulling them aside to inform them of their dress rental service. Though it is called 'rental' there is no actual fee to be paid. The townspeople have simply brought a collection of suits and cocktail dresses into the casino foyer and they are offering to lend them out for the occasion. A folding screen to get changed behind is provided as well.

Once you venture deeper into the casino, you'll find yourself in a surprisingly spacious room. Tables that might normally occupy the open space have been pushed to the wall and filled with various buffet foods. Though you might be tempted to spend your whole afternoon trying out the various local specialties, the rhythmic music from the speakers tries to lure you to the dancefloor. A few locals are already swinging their hips to the beat.

Though if you're simply looking for the main highlight of a casino, you won't have to look long either. Across from the buffet, you will find a wide variety of game machines. Pachinko, slot machines.... even a few odd-one-out games that look like they should rather belong in an arcade. Try your luck, try your skill! If you prove successful, an employee is waiting to hand out various fun goods to you.

There are quite a few townspeople in attendance on this party, but there is a silent understanding that you tourists are the VIPs here. Anywhere you go, any game you want to try, the citizens are quick to move aside for you and let you have the maximum amount of fun.

How about that one? [He gestures at a Tetris machine.] Though there is more of an element of luck, most bad results can be countered by sufficient skill. [Also there's less random flashing lights at least.]

[Kino watches it for a moment before pressing a switch to end the play, the machine ejecting the pachinko balls that were won. A signal to the staff to collect them, and Kino's off to the next machine.]

So it's a puzzle?

[Hmm...]

[He nods.] It is classified as such. Do you prefer such games?

I don't usually play games. Not every country is advanced enough to have them, and I like to see the sights of the countries I go to.

[Kino will begin trying the game however, causing a bad pileup whilst acclimating to the controls.]

[He's not going to backseat-game her too much, just watch mostly.] That's quite understandable. Have you already seen everything else here, then?

[quickpersuader]

More or less. I haven't spoken with everyone yet, but the locals all don't have much to say about the things I'm most interested in.

What sort of things are those?

[quickpersuader]

What the Sergeant does here.

Ah, yes. I've heard that apparently mentioning him can end simply in confusion for those poor townspeople.

[quickpersuader]

It's true, as far as I've seen. No one has the same answer on when he got here. All they know is that he keeps to himself.

[silvertongueheir]

And I've heard that pressing too much leads to them simply forgetting the conversation, as well.

[quickpersuader]

More or less.

[Which is both unfortunate and frustrating.]

[silvertongueheir]

[He just nods, glancing over to see how she's been doing at Tetris while they talk.]

[quickpersuader]

[There's still the remains of that unfortunate pile from the beginning, but Kino seems to be starting to get it, slowly whittling away at it.]

You do seem quite good at this game. [He notes with a smile.]
