April 7th - Welcome Party

Welcome Party
Though you've never seen the casino before, it is easy to find today. This is partly attributable to the music spilling from open doors right into the town. The people of Cartesio have made good on their announcement - doubtlessly, there is a party going on here.
Anyone entering will be confronted with a friendly citizen pulling them aside to inform them of their dress rental service. Though it is called 'rental' there is no actual fee to be paid. The townspeople have simply brought a collection of suits and cocktail dresses into the casino foyer and they are offering to lend them out for the occasion. A folding screen to get changed behind is provided as well.
Once you venture deeper into the casino, you'll find yourself in a surprisingly spacious room. Tables that might normally occupy the open space have been pushed to the wall and filled with various buffet foods. Though you might be tempted to spend your whole afternoon trying out the various local specialties, the rhythmic music from the speakers tries to lure you to the dancefloor. A few locals are already swinging their hips to the beat.
Though if you're simply looking for the main highlight of a casino, you won't have to look long either. Across from the buffet, you will find a wide variety of game machines. Pachinko, slot machines.... even a few odd-one-out games that look like they should rather belong in an arcade. Try your luck, try your skill! If you prove successful, an employee is waiting to hand out various fun goods to you.
There are quite a few townspeople in attendance on this party, but there is a silent understanding that you tourists are the VIPs here. Anywhere you go, any game you want to try, the citizens are quick to move aside for you and let you have the maximum amount of fun.

Turning them down would only make them sad on top of all else, you're right.

She probably has sauce all over her face. What a trooper.]
Yep, yep.
Right now, they think we're just nice tourists. I mean, chances are we're gonna ruin that for 'em sooner rather than later, but why not let 'em believe what they want for now?
Doesn't hurt us, anyway.

massive CS/2 spoilers, because she's just Like This
I wouldn't, actually. But I think I'm kinda the wrong person to ask.
[Munch.]
I mean, they kinda made me in a lab and I have a robot friend and one of my best friends pilots an even bigger robot that he used to fight our other friend's giant robot 'cause our other friend was a terrorist and he shot my gramps, except then gramps wasn't actually dead, and then our other friend WAS dead.
[All while chewing on food. The most casual of conversation.]
So, yeah, I'm kinda used to weird.

There's a lot to take in here, but somehow none of the individual components are as shocking to Cian as other people's stories were. Made in a lab? Yeah, seems reasonable. Robots? Sure. Terrorist friend? Yeah, Cian can sort of imagine how this feels. Someone being not actually dead? Yeah, Cian's sort of living this at the moment. Someone being dead? ... well, she really is sorry about that.
.... however: ]
Wait, they figured out how to make artificial humans before even developing proper computers?
just assume every comment she leaves from here on out is a giant honking spoiler
Yeah, but that's just the Black Workshop. They know all sorts o' crazy stuff the rest of the world doesn't yet.
[So they're probably not people she should just be chittering on about like this, and yet. Here she is.]
They've probably got "proper computers," but... they kinda wiped my memories of the place before they sold me off to Gramps, so I couldn't tell you for sure.
no subject
You were sold?
no subject
Yuppers. I mean, that's why I was made in the first place, was 'cause Gramps bought me.

Living technology isn't really odd in her world - PassengerBird's are hooked up to the real neural network of a bird and so on and so forth. Nobody really asked those birds what they want either, for sure...
... so if the technology to make humans exists, would ethics change? It would certainly make humans less of a precious sacred resource.... ]
Do they make a lot of people on order?

[If anything, she just looks sad she can't answer.]
I know they made me n' Al. Lammy n' Sammy aren't people, really, but I know they made them, too. But that's all I really know about.

[ Internally screaming at herself over this tbh. ]
no subject
I dunno, this stuff doesn't really bother me. It just is, y'know?
no subject
Nothing to do about it but go on, right?
