cartesianism | WEEK 2: April 8th

Second Week

Seven days have passed. Quite peaceful days, almost too peaceful. The town has welcomed you, excited to see tourists for the first time in many, many, many years. Some may have liked the peace, others may have been annoyed by it, but it was undeniable Cartesio seemed like such a nice and safe place it was hard to believe you had been told to kill each other.

But the threat is still up in the air. What's more: how much patience does the Sergeant have left?

Every time you take a look into the Lodge, you see the Sergeant. Lately he's looking more and more annoyed. Even though you can't see his face, you can feel he's getting frustrated. How long will it be before he lashes out and does something about these peaceful days?

Nobody in the town could suspect the harrowing times that'd befall Cartesio.

When you wake up on Sunday, you'll find new maps in the map rack and brochures on the table, showing places you hadn't noticed in the town before. Enjoy!

[Thankfully for everyone, there will be no high-pitched screaming today, for Millium is both very used to heights and okay with physical contact.]

Whup–! Umm, okay, just get me a little closer to it...!

[Millium's going to inspect it up close before she just tries to rip the damn thing out of the wall like some kind of barbarian. Anything of note?]

[When Millium grabs the device, she feels how flimsy it is. It indeed looks like you could rip it off with no effort. Just be careful if you do, the wires are live]

[This is the girl that woke up somewhere she didn't expect and started to eat the food that was in her lap. Do you really think live wires are gonna stop her?]

...Man. Did they even try with this thing?

[If no one stops her? Yank.]

[An alarm sounds! For a deafening three seconds before it slowly fades away, like it ran out of batteries.

The problem when you live in a town with no crime is that you don't invest too heavily in security because nothing ever happens in Cartesio.

Too bad these tourists are in town]

[Olympia that was literally the exact opposite of good work. You could have crunched it or just let Clarisse shoot the damned thing and gotten the exact same result.]

That was... less anti-climatic than I thought i would be.

Think we should be alright to break the door?

In my experience, alarms are things to be wary of.

[EYE ROLL OF THE CENTURY. nothing bolin ever says ever in his life will ever be trustworthy ever again so far as clarisse is concerned]

[And that is all the warning anyone gets before Clarisse, putting her arrow in its quiver and setting her bow on her back as she marches over, kicks the glass door hard. Her clothes are all tough leather so she steps back and puts her arm over her face and that should be enough to cover her if this works; the rest of you can figure your own shit out.]

[The glass door shudders, the lock shatters, and the very top of the wall disenganges, the glass door is inclined out towards the street. Oh dear.

It's not completely broken yet, but it's almost out of its socket. Way to go, Clarisse]

[She looks a little disappointed that it looks like it's going to fall instead of shatter at her kick... After one quick second taken to evaluate the damage, Clarisse kicks the door again.]

[Olympia waits a second to see if by some chance the door will fall the rest of the way now. If it doesn't, she goes and punches it really hard.]

[It doesn't fall. However, Clarisse's next kick and Olympia's punch do the work rather well. The kick dislodges it from its rightful place, and the punch shatters it before it can even touch the street. The shards fall to the asphalt, causing a a lot of noise resonating in middle of the night -- even those down in the warehouse must have heard it.

Better run away!]
