WEEK 2: April 8th - April 12th

Second Week

Seven days have passed. Quite peaceful days, almost too peaceful. The town has welcomed you, excited to see tourists for the first time in many, many, many years. Some may have liked the peace, others may have been annoyed by it, but it was undeniable Cartesio seemed like such a nice and safe place it was hard to believe you had been told to kill each other.

But the threat is still up in the air. What's more: how much patience does the Sergeant have left?

Every time you take a look into the Lodge, you see the Sergeant. Lately he's looking more and more annoyed. Even though you can't see his face, you can feel he's getting frustrated. How long will it be before he lashes out and does something about these peaceful days?

Nobody in the town could suspect the harrowing times that'd befall Cartesio.

When you wake up on Sunday, you'll find new maps in the map rack and brochures on the table, showing places you hadn't noticed in the town before. Enjoy!

Heyyy... don't say that about yourself...

[That actually gets a more genuine frown.]

It is sad. And I wish we could make 'em see it wasn't all of us. And that those of us that did are only doin' it 'cause Sarge isn't giving us a choice...

But I don't think they'd listen. And I think maybe it's better if they start not liking us now, before things get worse.

[Because things are going to get worse.]

[worse, huh? Osomatsu fears that she's right]

What do you think Sarge wanted? I mean, aside from the neon sign? Just t'see if we could cooperate?

I dunno.

[She leans back on her hands.]

He had us do somethin' like this before, before you guys got here. That burned up building? That used to be some kinda office. He had us go in there and bust it up and take stuff, but he didn't tell us why then, either.

It's... like he's happy when he sees us ruin stuff for them.

[She falls quiet, frowning. It's not because she finds that aspect of their captor particularly saddening, though.]

[oh. that's more than he knew about that! his eyes widen a fraction]

Geez. He's messed up. [a beat, and then he adds] What if he wants us to destroy the town?

[doublelammy]

I dunno. He at least really wants us to mess with some of the people here.

[. . .]

And I feel kinda bad, now. 'Cause I might've been the one to suggest we all go break stuff rather than killing each other the first week we were here.

[Read: she definitely was. In her defense, she thought she was only staying a week.]

I mean, breaking things sounds a lot better than killing people, if you put it that way.

Yeah, that's what I thought, too.

And at the time, he said it was only gonna be a week, y'know? And it's not like that kinda thing is new for me.

Breaking things, you mean? [he smirks lightly]

Ehehe. Yeah.

[A bit more seriously, though:]

And breaking into things n' taking stuff...

[he nods, rubbing his chin]

Yeah, I take stuff, too... Not all the time, but only when I really need it!

[doublelammy]

[...oh my god, Oso. It's a good thing Millium is the last person on earth to judge.]

Ehehe... then I guess that's how you gotta look at it now, right? It's how I'm lookin' at it, at least.

We do what he asks, he gives us stuff. N' I need to get Lammy back, so.

[if it helps, he only takes stuff from his brothers! he doesn't... usually steal from stores. usually]

Oh, yeah! [right, the Sergeant gives them stuff if they do what he says. he keeps forgetting about that] What'd he give you for last night?

[doublelammy]

Oh. This.

[She shifts forward so that she can pull something out of a pouch on her side, holding it out for Osomatsu.

It's a flat, vaguely oval-shaped object with a chain attached.]

Whoa, cool! What is this? [he looks fascinated. that's some fancy-looking thing!]

It's an ARCUS unit!

[Explaining things about her world seems to have perked her up some.]

Normally, it lets me use arts based off the quartz inside, here, n' I can form combat links with my friends. [She flips it open to show him the small orbs nestled inside.] And it can make phone calls, too!

[Yes, she literally has a magic flip phone filled with magic stones that let her cast magic, this canon is that level of Anime.]

[Osomatsu peers inside, but he doesn't touch the stones. still neat, though]

So... you can do magic, and stuff?

Kinda!

It's prolly gonna be pretty hard for me to explain, that kinda stuff is waaaay over my head. But it's kinda more... science-y than magic?

Sure feels real similar when you're castin' it, though, ehehe.

Science, magic... All that stuff goes over my head, too! But that's still cool!

[Heeee. This pleases her.]

...It'd be way cooler if it would like, actually turn on, though.

Oh, you mean that? [he points to her... weird phone thing] Yeah, I'd love t'see what it can do!

I wish I could show you!

Maybe if I keep doing stuff, Sarge'll let it turn back on...? I just kinda feel like he's mocking me with this.

I feel like he's mocking all of us.

[he breaks off one of the cans of beer from the six-pack] Like, where am I supposed to store this? No matter how good it is, if it ain't cold, it's gross.

[Millium tilts her head at it.]

Yeah, I think I remember Instructor Sara sayin' somethin' like that, too.

[Ah, fond memories of her alcoholic teacher.]

If he wants us to help 'im out, he's really goin' about this so wrong...

Right? He gets so hot-headed too. Like, if things don't go his way, he throws a tantrum. Like a baby.
