WEEK 2: April 8th - April 12th

Second Week

Seven days have passed. Quite peaceful days, almost too peaceful. The town has welcomed you, excited to see tourists for the first time in many, many, many years. Some may have liked the peace, others may have been annoyed by it, but it was undeniable Cartesio seemed like such a nice and safe place it was hard to believe you had been told to kill each other.

But the threat is still up in the air. What's more: how much patience does the Sergeant have left?

Every time you take a look into the Lodge, you see the Sergeant. Lately he's looking more and more annoyed. Even though you can't see his face, you can feel he's getting frustrated. How long will it be before he lashes out and does something about these peaceful days?

Nobody in the town could suspect the harrowing times that'd befall Cartesio.

When you wake up on Sunday, you'll find new maps in the map rack and brochures on the table, showing places you hadn't noticed in the town before. Enjoy!

[ Selling newspapers and getting retweets is important, y'know. But he's willing to actually let her have this one. How generous. ]

[But after that's established, she pauses to think of something.]

Who'd you see? On the screen, I mean.

[amburere]

[ ...noted, maybe! ]

My boss and the rest of the Vanguard Action Squad. They're probably driving him crazy, and he's probably tried to kill 'em a few times by now.

[robitussin]

[She pauses, regarding him again.]

I'm starting to wonder if you can go ten seconds without talking about killing people.

[amburere]

[ Shrug. ]

Just how the league works.

[robitussin]

Really? Is that one of the official rules? Constantly discussing murder?

[amburere]

Shigaraki tried to kill me within two minutes of us meeting.

[ ......so yes? It's all fine though! He does not really seem bothered about it, it happened, just another day. ]

[robitussin]

Okay, you seriously need to get better friends. Coworkers? I don't know. You also need way better standards if that's, like, normal and a thing you can just casually admit.

[this anime bullshit makes her Weary]

[amburere]

Coworkers. They're better than the rest of the trash that tries to follow in our wake. We get things done, even if it's unorthodox. That's kinda the whole point.

But thanks for your concern.

[ In a way, they're this weird disjointed family that looks out for each other even with the death threats. There's no real comment on his standards (and his sarcasm is readily apparent) cause while he does have them, they'd likely make little sense to anyone but him. And that's more effort than he's willing to expend right now. ]

[robitussin]

I'm not concerned.

[That's the most important thing to establish, in her opinion, but she continues on after a moment.]

What things do you get done, exactly?

[amburere]

Dethroning the number one hero, kidnapping a prized USJ student—we don't just act for no reason. Anyone who tries to join us thinking that has made their last mistake. Trash is trash, whether they're a hero or a villain.

[robitussin]

...You realize that I understand the significance of basically none of that, right? What's USJ?

[amburere]

The most important parts are easy to understand. [ In his opinion, anyway. ]

It's the school the explosive brat goes to, for heroes in training. They've fallen on hard times lately, it's really so sad. Ten villains taking on two classes and their instructors, and they still lost.

[robitussin]

...Wait, part of your whole thing was kidnapping kids?

[why is that worse than throwing corpses at people??]

[amburere]

The explosive brat that's here, actually. [ Bakugou will never have name rights. And that makes the kidnapping more reasonable right? Not that Dabi cares, judging by his overly pleased grin. ]

[robitussin]

Okay, but like... Why? What were you trying to prove, or whatever?

[amburere]

The boss thought that he could get him to come to our side given his sparkling personality. [ Shrug to that, 'cause he knew it was a stupid idea from the start. ]

Didn't work out that way, but doesn't matter. We got much a much better prize, along with fracturing the public's trust in USJ.

[robitussin]

[There's been a growing skepticism in her expression through the last few things he's said, but here it grows downright distrustful.]

...And what was the prize you got?

[ If her skepticism bothers Dabi, he doesn't show it any. In fact he grows more animated as he speaks, the staples at the corner of his mouth pulling at his skin. ]

Revealing to the world that the number one hero was no longer up to the job. All Might has been their symbol of hope, their symbol of peace, the foundation of hero society for decades. And now? He's worse than dead!

[amburere]

...killing him would just make him a martyr. Emaciating him in front of the world is a reality that not even the most idiotic trash can deny. The age of heroes is over, its our turn next.

[robitussin]

[A long pause, as she watches this.]

Are you, like. Okay? I think you might need some help.

[amburere]

[ He lets out a breath that almost sounds like a laugh. ]

Bit too late for that, don't ya think?

[robitussin]

I mean, when you inevitably get arrested, that's probably going to be part of what they make you do. So...

[amburere]

Don't plan on it. [ He smiles again, all too serenely for this conversation. ]

[robitussin]

Nobody ever really plans to go to jail. And yet, prisons exist, full of people.
