Week 2 - Trial

Week 2: Trial

The day still is April 13th. It's now the afternoon

Just like he said he would, the Sergeant went to everyone and told them to go to the courthouse. It wasn't difficult to find -- three of the tourists already knew where it was. What nobody, not even these three thought, was that the courtroom would be so much populated this time.

All of the visitors went into the only trial room in the courthouse. In the center there were several podiums, formed into a circle. Each podium had a small notepad and a pen, and a slot on the top part of its surface, presumably to insert your vote in it. Each podium has a small placard showing who it belongs to -- except for Moloch von Zinzer's podium. That one is draped with black velvet.

The tribunes at the sides of the courtroom are higher than where your podiums are. During the trial Sakura, Wayne and Millium attended those tribunes had been empty, but this time they're not. Quite a lot of the townspeople are sitting there, talking with each other and observing all of the tourists with different expressions. Confusion, disdain, shock, all kinds of emotions, all united by the feeling of morbid curiosity. What did the tourists do? What will happen? That's what they're wondering.

And above all of them, on the judge's seat...the Sergeant. None of the townspeople's paying attention to him, he's sitting on his chair and twirling the gavel in his hand. He still is very pleased a murder happened, and once it's time to start, he says:
"We have gathered today for the trial to find the culprit for the death of Moloch von Zinzer. It's your task to discuss, find the truth of this murder and bring it to light. For the sake of not letting you bunch run in circles, I have decided to lend you a hand and give you the five most likely suspects -- the culprit being one of them"

And indeed, five small photos appear on your podium.

"When it's time, you shall cast your vote. Write it on paper or put the photo inside the slot, I don't really care about how you do it. What matters is that you actually do it. With no further ado, I wish you good luck!"

The trial room went completely silent, all the visitors can feel the attentive stares of the townspeople gathered to watch. It's up to you now to find the culprit.

Let the trial begin.

...well then. I suppose we should get straight to business.

[If you haven’t seen Dazai get serious before this might be a pleasant surprise for you.]

I examined our victim, the late Mister Moloch. His clothes were smeared with a dark liquid, primarily around his right arm. By it’s scent I believe the liquid in question was motor oil.

As for wounds, he had only one. A deep stab wound in his abdomen, consistent with a knife wound.

Do you think the culprit intended to burn the body? Though I'm curious as to why they'd burn the car along with it.

[personal profile] pursuitofdeath 2018-10-13 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
While it’s likely they did hope to destroy evidence, they didn’t go about it in an entirely competent way. It takes precision to make a car explode. It would have taken time for the flames to get to the appropriate compartments. But if it had, then we would have had a much more difficult time, for certain.
silvertongueheir: (I had in store)

[personal profile] silvertongueheir 2018-10-13 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[A nod.] So it's likely they've been exposed to media involving exploding cars, but aren't personally knowledgeable about their inner workings.

I highly doubt it’s believable that we would have missed signs of that caliber for a long time, so that leads me to believe that they thought they could destroy the evidence quickly or at the very least, keep us away from it.

[ I mean Bakugou was handling this seriously no doubt about it but now he just looks absolutely pissy now, even more than usual.

If Dazai is starting them off, he'll add to it. Also he has a mop now. ]

It looks like someone just fucking left a sticky mop hanging around in the diner for some stupid reason. Whatever the crappy clear liquid was happens to be concentrated on most of the handle and nowhere else. There's also some rust stuck to it and the mophead too.

Not even fucking sure what it is.

[ In his response to Natalie, but at the other man's suggestion, he grimaces.

However, he has the mop now...so, does the clear liquid smell or anything like that? ]

If it has rust on it, that could mean it was either at the junkyard at some point or came into contact with something from the junkyard.
pursuitofdeath: (pic#12599270)

[personal profile] pursuitofdeath 2018-10-13 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I was thinking the same thing. It may have been kept for cleaning purposes— for a junkyard, I’m sure an old mop would do.
kingbomber: (Just speak the important words)

[personal profile] kingbomber 2018-10-13 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Like one of those cars?

[ A wild guess, but then again, he doesn't get why someone would bring a mop to the junkyard... ]
quickpersuader: (clouds)

[personal profile] quickpersuader 2018-10-13 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
It might have been to clean something up in particular... unless there's also scratch marks on it.

Are you sure it was a liquid?
kingbomber: (that are on your mind)

[personal profile] kingbomber 2018-10-13 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd assumed it was. What else could've left a residue like that, huh?

[ He sounds kind of curious about that, at least. ]
unfashionably: (a side-eye sting)

[personal profile] unfashionably 2018-10-13 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
No idea, but it probably isn't important. All that matters is we found a mop, so I guess that means somebody cleaned something up.

[In the interest of keeping things organized, hello Dazai, have some evidence!]

I investigated a large stack of cars a couple feet from the car that Moloch was found in. There was a lot of suspicious things there, like a large stash of motoroil in the top trunk, which was surrounded by more oil in a circle with a single smudge to mess it up.

Near the base of the pile was a pool of drying blood and a partial bloody footprint leading towards the burnt car. Moloch was probably stabbed there and then moved into the car.

[personal profile] streetwolf 2018-10-13 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
You say he was moved right? But he's a pretty big guy. Could he have gotten there himself? Maybe he was trying to drive to town.

[He hates working out these things.]

[personal profile] icariot 2018-10-13 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Depends on how fast the victim bled out, but there wasn't really any kind of trail between the blood puddle and the car that shows he was stumbling around himself.
streetwolf: (4)

[personal profile] streetwolf 2018-10-13 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Wouldn't there be a trail if someone carried him. Or someone's clothes got covered in blood.

So, after the guy was stabbed that's probably when the killer went ahead and started to set up everything to burn, including stoppin' by the appropriate places to get what they needed, because I doubt they had it all on them when they stabbed that guy.
icariot: (Default)

[personal profile] icariot 2018-10-13 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
If they planned it they could have had some of it on them, like the duct tape mentioned, but that's what I figure too.
unfashionably: (this is temporary)

Looks like that's another point against Nine. [ Against Hawks and Sandy too, but the player doesn't wanna check how to spell his name so forgive pls. ]

The guestbook says he can jump pretty high, too.

[personal profile] icariot 2018-10-13 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a point against everybody but maybe Azura. I doubt she's strong enough to move Moloch, but any of the four of us guys are probably technically strong enough.

[whether they'd be willing to physically move the body is a different point. He can't imagine Dabi actually going through the effort.]
