Week 2: Trial

The day still is April 13th. It's now the afternoon

Just like he said he would, the Sergeant went to everyone and told them to go to the courthouse. It wasn't difficult to find -- three of the tourists already knew where it was. What nobody, not even these three thought, was that the courtroom would be so much populated this time.

All of the visitors went into the only trial room in the courthouse. In the center there were several podiums, formed into a circle. Each podium had a small notepad and a pen, and a slot on the top part of its surface, presumably to insert your vote in it. Each podium has a small placard showing who it belongs to -- except for Moloch von Zinzer's podium. That one is draped with black velvet.

The tribunes at the sides of the courtroom are higher than where your podiums are. During the trial Sakura, Wayne and Millium attended those tribunes had been empty, but this time they're not. Quite a lot of the townspeople are sitting there, talking with each other and observing all of the tourists with different expressions. Confusion, disdain, shock, all kinds of emotions, all united by the feeling of morbid curiosity. What did the tourists do? What will happen? That's what they're wondering.

And above all of them, on the judge's seat...the Sergeant. None of the townspeople's paying attention to him, he's sitting on his chair and twirling the gavel in his hand. He still is very pleased a murder happened, and once it's time to start, he says:

"We have gathered today for the trial to find the culprit for the death of Moloch von Zinzer. It's your task to discuss, find the truth of this murder and bring it to light. For the sake of not letting you bunch run in circles, I have decided to lend you a hand and give you the five most likely suspects -- the culprit being one of them"

And indeed, five small photos appear on your podium.

"When it's time, you shall cast your vote. Write it on paper or put the photo inside the slot, I don't really care about how you do it. What matters is that you actually do it. With no further ado, I wish you good luck!"

The trial room went completely silent, all the visitors can feel the attentive stares of the townspeople gathered to watch. It's up to you now to find the culprit.

Let the trial begin.

[Sandalphon's not going to make any effort to really cooperate here as he stays planted right in front of his podium but if Oda wants to inspect him from a decent distance, he's welcome to. However, from what's outwardly visible, there doesn't seem to be any traces of junkyard rust on his clothes and armor.]

Asshole's real good at being uncooperative for some reason.

[ He's real annoyed about it, so he's saying something. Sorry not sorry. ]

Well, he's also being suspected for murder. That makes people angry sometimes.

Yeah, sure.

[ said sarcastically but he'll go back to his interrogation ]

[ the sarcasm couldn't have flown any higher over oda's head, sorry ]

[...Well, that's a good point actually. But.]

Then I'll go one step further and save you the trouble by telling you that it's a waste of time to check me.

Why?

Because I didn't kill that man, nor did I go anywhere near the junkyard this past week.

This thing where you act like your word's worth anything is real cute.

Oh? And are you saying you intend to do something about it?

Am I? Hell no. He can go to all the trouble he wants, but you've got as much worth as your word does, so I'm not wasting my effort to get all up close and personal.

I think it's just fair to check you like we've checked everyone. If we have to vote for someone to die...then I want to make sure that we choose the right culprit. If you're not the culprit, then we'll eventually figure that out, I hope.

[I say this in meta but pretend this is before Kino convinced him to cooperate.]

Could I please check your feet and some of your clothes? Just to be sure.

[Kino, you made a good effort but.]

No. There isn't anything to find anyways.

Maybe so, but unless we can check everyone the same way, there's a chance people could default to voting for whoever we don't have evidence that they didn't.

It's also my own personal preference, but if I have to vote for someone to die, I want to vote for someone because I'm sure it was them instead of accidentally handing down judgment on someone who didn't cause this. But I only speak for myself.

[You know, Kino? You make pretty good points. Sandalphon does pause to consider everything that's been said, and finally--]

Hmph, fine.

[He'll lift his heeled boots one at a time so the soles are visible, albeit probably only if you crouch because he's not going to raise them that high. But either way, there's just the usual dirt and grime from walking around and no traces of rust there.]

[Kino will go ahead and crouch, please do not kick Kino in the head. No blood, no signs of being recently cleaned?]

[kicks Kino in the-- okay no, he won't do that. He may be uncooperative but it'd be pretty dumb to instigate a fight like that right now anyways.

But nope, no blood or signs of being cleaned! He sure does get about an extra inch and a half of height from them though.]

[Tall birb man.

Once again, Kino backs away after the inspection, smiling.]

Thank you. I'll just take a quick look at your clothes, now.

[Which Kino will attempt to do unless he tries to stop 'em.]

[He just tosses a dismissive look in response, but he's lifting his boots up a little for Kino and Bakugou is free to also ~~sniff~~ check if he wants! Just don't crowd him or else he'll get pissy.]
