Week 2 - after trial

[everyone is probably more than a little stunned over what has been going on. while it is true that the Sergeant told them all this would happen, it's different to have to witness it with one's own eyes. while Nine is led away, and the townspeople leave the court, it is up to the visitors to decide how to move forward. do they talk among themselves? do they reflect on the events that took place alone? one thing that is certain is that the Sergeant got his way this week. will he continue to force them to keep picking each other off in the weeks that come? only time will tell.

this isn't really an after party. it's too sad, but perhaps many people will take comfort in the fact that they are not alone. either mingle at the motel, or somewhere else in town, or even visit Nine in his cell. it's up to you as to how you will spend the rest of this afternoon]

Diner + Wandering

[After the trial, Hawks is feeling restless. Normally he travels by air where he needs to go, but he doesn't think that's enough to clear his head right now.

So he's going on a run. No place especially in mind, he's just going to be everywhere.

He liked Nine. Kid wasn't the sharpest, but he was genuine.]

A shame...He'd have made a decent hero, probably.

[After exhausting himself running around, and a quick stop at a grocery store, Hawks makes his way to the diner. He doesn't even pause before hopping into the kitchen behind the counter. Literally over the counter, actually.

He's making his own food, and no one can argue.

This week hasn't been fun, so comfort food it is. Maybe a nap later as well, he hasn't slept more than a couple hours at a time since he got here.]

Wandering ---> Abandoned Building

[ That was a lot to take in. Bakugou had his own worries (which he'd barely acknowledge even now), and thoughts about what'd happened. But after the trial, Bakugou's making an immediate effort to look for Hawks. A lot had happened, and there was a lot of catching up they needed to do. Or as much as they could anyway.

The blond notices the man on his run, and he happens to be nearby the Abandoned Building. So, quickest way to get his attention as always is doing some shouting. ]

HEY, Hawks! Over here.

[Hawks was almost in a haze thinking over the past twenty-four hours, trying to figure out if there was something he could have done to change the outcome, or at least maybe something he could learn for the inevitable "next time." His thoughts were going in more circles than he was when Bakugou's shout got his attention.

His head snapped up and over, his feet stilling. It's a matter of moments before Hawks starts up again and moves in the teen's direction.]

Eyy, Bakugou. Up for an evening stroll are you?

Staying in one place for so long is a pain in the ass.

[ Bakugou looks like how he usually does, though admittedly kind of tired. It felt strange to him but being in a room for hours could be draining even if he wasn't in the middle of battle.

He actually doesn't feel it within himself to take a stroll, but whatever, once Hawks nears him, he'll toss a little something his way. Catch it, Hawks!

He'll get ready to join in a sudden stroll right after. ]

So, maybe.

...And I'm starting to think if we need make sure Sergeant Bastard isn't successful again, you're not the only one who needs to be going out on fucking patrols.

[Ahh yes, emotional exhaustion. An old nemesis.

He's not so distracted to miss that catch, at least--what did he catch?]

I wouldn't mind the company, if you want to join me. We can also take shifts if you'd rather, but that depends on your experience level. [No need to send someone with only a couple weeks of internship experience into a position they aren't equipped for. Hawks is lazy, not incompetent.]

Hawks just caught one balled up piece of paper. Amazing. ]

I'll join you. I know how to fucking patrol, so any shift is fine with me. Got it?

[ Even if he is tired, he seems like he's immediately ready to go at the idea that it's insinuated he isn't prepared for anything. Plus, Hawks is the number two Hero, he's definitely going to do his best and not anything less! ]

[Amazing Bakugou, just what he wanted. He goes to unfold it, but thinks better of it and shoves it into a secure, semi hidden pocket.

Hawks waves his hands in front of him in a placating gesture to diffuse Bakugou’s sudden temper]

Calm down Firecracker, I’m not doubting you specifically. I do most of my patrols alone, since even my sidekicks can’t keep up with me. [No one really could, until Tokoyami. Closest is Miruko, and that’s still with Hawks taking handicaps.] I don’t know what experience you’ve had either, so whether I have to guide you through parts is up in the air. [Time to appeal to the kids pride a bit] You’re still a first year no matter what stuff you’ve run into, so you having any experience is already ahead of the curve. [Hawks doesn’t have room to talk though, he’s probably broken every curve someone tried to put him on.

That’s still a line of thought he should ask about, though] What knowledge do you have? About patrols specifically, but anything else you can think of related to it is welcome too.

[ It's true, even Bakugou has heard of it. How fast the man went -- though, knowing that he has his own limitations on his powers he wanted if the man could keep speeding around as he wanted. Or maybe he could...whatever, he pushes it to the side for the moment. ]

Enough. [ .... ] Obviously about knowing what to look for, and to keep alert--being ready to act and jump in is important. Sometimes it's not always going to be easy to fucking spot right off.

[ Something something Best Jeanist said about attitude too but fuck if he didn't try to rub that internship's nonsense out of his memory. ]

[Hm... Bakugou seems to know the basics at least, and reputation isn’t something Hawks thinks will work as well here as at home, so any lack of personability should be fine for now. ]

That should work well enough for here—the town isn’t massive and there’s not so much crime that we’re needed for. [a thoughtful hum. He flaps his wings idly, and gestures with his arms has he changes topics.] Mostly I think we should patrol late at night and early in the morning, Dusk is pretty obvious, but you know Nine and Moloch happened early in the morning, so that’s a good time when people are often unaware too.

[ Bakugou's glad he doesn't have to argue his way onto a patrol because he definitely is not in the mood to do that, and as always, feels immensely capable enough for that, so this probably saved a lot of headaches. ]

Late at night and early in the morning's good. If we also think about what happened last time in the morning people aren't gonna want to be out around the same time as Moloch and Nine were. At least not so soon or even at all this week, and if that's true, then anyone who's looking for a victim this week is going to probably consider that. So good chances are that their asses will be out sometime at evening mostly the more time would pass without them being able to get someone.

But our asses should be covered if we did somethin' like patrol early in the morning the beginning of the week, but late at night towards the later part.

[ ...it's unbelieveable but he's absolutely trying to definitely put some thought into this. He's eager to put a stop to this, for sure.

And probably going to have some semblance of regrets but ultimately if it prevents a murder it's a worthy sacrifice (also because Hawks is not Best Jeanist it works out. somehow) ]

[Hawks takes a moment to consider, his head tipping to examine distant corners lazily]

Just because some people might be wary of early mornings doesn't mean we can discount them entirely. Still, since it's just us two, splitting the patrols half and half isn't a bad idea. [Burn out is a very real possibility if they don't keep it moderated, and Hawks knows curbing his speed is not his strong suite.]

[ He doesn't get the "hero" and "villain" stuff so he can't comment or agree, but... when he passes by and hears that, he lowers his head. ]

He seemed like a good guy. [ Probably would've been decent at a lot of things. ]
