WEEK 3: April 15th - April 19th

Third Week

The peaceful times are over. Moloch von Zinzer was murdered, and Nine was sentenced as his murderer. Everyone in Cartesio knows that.

Although life goes on, it seems the town of Cartesio isn't going to forget the tourists' transgressions. Not only they commited larceny in the cinema, they also murdered and executed in their town! It's no surprise their hospitality towards the visitors has cooled down considerably.

Not only they're maintaining a tense cordiality with them, they also have started talking behind the visitors' backs. All kinds of rumors are starting to sprout, yet nobody seems to be willing to say it to the tourists' faces. Talking directly to most passerby makes them distrustful, and nobody seems to want to be in close quarters alone with them.

It's only matter of time before the relationship between tourists and Cartesio starts degrading even further.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

[Osomatsu spins in his chair a few times, laughing, before he stops to look at her. she's doing that thing again, where she's concerned about him, and he's pleased]

I'm a'right! I've only had two!

[robitussin]

Right, only two. Maybe you should stop at only two for a while.

[relieable]

[he looks down at his mug, then points to it, whining]

But I don't wanna waste this one. [he definitely will slow down, since she's worried]

[robitussin]

...Fair enough.

[Still, she has to ask:]

Do you do this often?

[relieable]

You mean drink? Yeah, I drink all the time back at home.

[robitussin]

[She pauses as she takes a seat next to him, glancing his way.]

You don't think you should maybe... I don't know, not do that?

[relieable]

There's nothing wrong with drinkin' a little bit, is there? It helps make me forget about all the shit goin' on around here.

[robitussin]

If it's enough to make you forget about stuff, isn't that more than a little?

[relieable]

[...... he stares at her a moment, then sighs and looks down at his glass]

Maybe.

[robitussin]

[A beat, then:]

Sorry, never mind. It's probably none of my business.

[relieable]

[ah, he didn't mean to make her close up]

Don't do that. If you want me to stop, I'll stop.

[robitussin]

No, just... You don't need to feel bad about it or anything. This shit is stressful. I get it.

[That's said sincerely, at least.]

[relieable]

[he knows he's going about this the wrong way, at least]

I guess... Maybe the motive today hit me harder than I thought. Like, don't worry, I'm not gonna kill anyone over it. But... I dunno. It got me thinking about home, and, yeah...

[robitussin]

...Yeah. It's a pretty shitty one.

[Easily worse than the last one for her, at least.]

Is it something people would be really angry at you for, or-?

[relieable]

[a pause, and he rubs the back of his head]

They might? But it's not like I'd hurt anyone to not find out.

[robitussin]

...Well, hopefully they won't be.

[She sighs.]

That's if nobody does something idiotic, I guess.

[relieable]

[right... but judging by what happened with Nine...]

I dunno, that's askin' a lot from this bunch.

[robitussin]

[She leans forward, resting an elbow on the table and her hand in her palm.]

Aren't you supposed to be the optimistic one out of the two of us?

[relieable]

Aren't you the one who told me t'be more realistic?

[robitussin]

Yeah, but I don't think I was expecting it to take less than three weeks.

[relieable]

[that makes him laugh. he finishes off the last bit of alcohol in his mug, then pushes it away and pulls out his card]

A lot of shit's happened in a short amount of time. So, if I gotta change my outlook, then I will, if that's what'll keep me from bein' someone's kill.

[he really hasn't changed all that much, though]

[robitussin]

[After a moment, she nods.]

...Well, good. I mean, about the whole keeping your guard up part. I'm glad.

[relieable]

Now if only I could get you to lighten up a bit! Then we'd both be perfect.

[robitussin]

[She laughs despite herself, shaking her head.]

I am exactly the right amount of carefree.

[relieable]

[a laugh! that was good!]

If you say so. [he grins, and then sighs. the bartender comes to take his card so that he can pay for his drinks] It's probably better that you stay the way you are. At least while we're here.
