The peaceful times are over. Moloch von Zinzer was murdered, and Nine was sentenced as his murderer. Everyone in Cartesio knows that.
Although life goes on, it seems the town of Cartesio isn't going to forget the tourists' transgressions. Not only they commited larceny in the cinema, they also murdered and executed in their town! It's no surprise their hospitality towards the visitors has cooled down considerably.
Not only they're maintaining a tense cordiality with them, they also have started talking behind the visitors' backs. All kinds of rumors are starting to sprout, yet nobody seems to be willing to say it to the tourists' faces. Talking directly to most passerby makes them distrustful, and nobody seems to want to be in close quarters alone with them.
It's only matter of time before the relationship between tourists and Cartesio starts degrading even further.
In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and
the maps have been updated once again.

wildcard you know the drill etc
Maybe that has something to do with the way she doesn't hesitate long before approaching the younger girl when she sees her in the diner. She seems distracted, and Natalie can't really blame her.]
...Hey.

She looks up when she realizes she's being spoken to, though.]
Oh, Natalie. Hi.
[Yeah, she's not in the brightest of spirits.]
What's up?

[Everything happens so much, etc, etc.]
How are you, um... You know.
[How are you doing, she means to say.]
no subject
[Sigh.]
Not the greatest. Talked to Sarge, got nowhere, big surprise there.
You? Didja at least get anything cool last night?
no subject
[She lets the second question go unanswered until she hears how Millium responds.]

You can go ahead and tell me. It prolly can't be any worse than what I know already.

She didn't say anything about why the Sergeant kept him here?

He said that... Because the last time you were here was kind of a test run, he was supposed to kill the people who were involved. But - he felt too bad for them to let that happen, so he went against his orders, apparently.
1/2
He... what?
2/2
...ahaha. Well! It sure is a good thing he did, otherwise I really would've had to break some rules, y'know~?
[There is precisely nothing comforting about this cheer.]
no subject
Well... He doesn't count as a participant this time, so he's probably safer than any of us for the time being. We just have to figure out how to make him remember.
no subject
...Yeah. You're right about that. We'll just... keep working together, keep pushing forward.
[Relentlessly.]
I know that's what Rean would want.
no subject
[What a stunning offer to help.]
no subject
Aha... thanks. [A beat.] Or is that "too weird" again?
...You never did answer me earlier, by the way. If you got somethin' cool or not.
[NO ESCAPE]

[But she doesn't sound like she minds much.]
Oh. Right, sorry, I thought the whole narrowly avoiding death thing was more important. I just got a notebook.

[She's learning how you work, Natalie...]
Aww. About as exciting as me, then. [She lifts one of the pom-pom strings on her hat. It is a very cute hat?]

There's a very short list of things that would be worth last night.

Some dolls, a broken ARCUS, and some clothes? C'mon, how cheap does he think we are?
[...is this really the reason to be offended, Millium...]
2/2
You said you were a musician?
[Natalie was a fool if she was hoping Millium would forget.]
no subject
...Yeah, I did say that.
