A second murder shook the town of Cartesio. Clarisse's ambush plan ended with Katsuki Bakugou's death. Now what?
Nothing to be done other than continuing their life and watch what happens. After two weeks, after the deaths they have seen, it's hard to think there's a way out. The only option is to wait for the right chance to turn the tables and see a weak point in the Sergeant's plans -- and hopefully not see any murders.
The townspeople's attitude towards the tourists soured even more. The destruction of the church was much worse than anything they had seen so far, and they ran out of patience. People who in the past were nice and wanted nothing more than to make the tourists happy now aren't afraid of saying to their faces what's what. Random pedestrians shout at the visitors, telling them to stop being criminals. Although there are a few who have more patience than the rest, general opinion is clear:
The tourists are nuisances, to say the least.
In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and
the maps have been updated once again.

But then there's a Keet the second sweep Kino does of the area and - oh, boy. He got arrested for breaking into the police office, didn't he?
The traveler brings a finger to their lips in what is hopefully a universal sign for "be quiet" before quietly, cautiously venturing in closer to that door.]

But putting that all aside, he nods at her and loos quietly over her shoulder to see what all they can see through the open door.]

The two chairs don't let you see yet who's there, but it sounds like two men. To the side of one of the chairs is a pair of objects. Those look dangerous, don't they?]

Getting a closer look at the console and screens is a good first step, but he's also going to look around the room for any other items that might of significance. Phones, laptops, that kind of deal.]
no subject
There's also a red phone nearby. Red emergency phone! For emergencies!
Eavesdropping reveals a rather easygoing conversation, one is extolling the virtues of sea salt ice cream to his skeptical partner here. Both of them sound like they don't have any worries. For a town that has been attacked by the visitors, they sure sound nonchalant right now.
At least until one of them stops. 'Wait, I feel like...' a head pops out from behind the chair, it's someone you may have seen around town, just one of the residents of Cartesio]
What are you two doing here?!
[The guy with the chakrams nearby bother even looking at them, he just extends a hand, the weapons moving immediately to his hand. Looks like he's alert]
no subject
There isn't any need to fight. We just noticed you missed a patch job, that's all.
[Straining her ears for footsteps, eyes on the escape.]
no subject
Got lost. Care to tell me what this is all about?
[Not hostile yet, still even toned. Trying to work out where the heck he's seen this dude....]
no subject
You can't just go sneaking around like this! [He gets off his chair, approaching the door in a hurry. Behind him, this guy seems to want to follow, but rookie fireman over here stops him] Don't wory, Axel, I got this. It's just two tourists.
['...better you than me' Axel says. He doesn't let go of the chakrams, but at least he sits back down to keep staring at the screens. Judging by the fireman uniform and his height, Axel's the one who stopped Sting two weeks ago.
Rookie Fireman NPC comes out, closes the door, and faces Kino and Keith]
What, this? It's a security system we installed after the fire last month. Kind of boring to be watching screens but better that than there suddenly being a fire on the streets like back then. Happy now?
[Rookie Fireman doesn't seem very happy about talking to the visitors, but at least he's taking the time to answer their questions. Things could be going worse]
no subject
After that she steps out from behind the wall, arms at the sides. Definitely still easy to quick draw from, but fairly unthreatening.]
I see. I'm sorry; I thought I saw something in here, so I came inside without thinking too much on it. He saw me go and followed to make sure I didn't get in trouble. [Or something like that.
Another glance towards the screens and anything else that might be visible from the doorway if they'll let Kino get away with it.]
A security system... that makes sense. I wasn't here for it, but I did hear about the fire. If these cameras can prevent something like that from happening, that would be best for everyone.
[Hm...]
Are the motel and park high-hazard areas?
no subject
He keeps his eyes on Axel and the weapon in his hand. That's clearly not an ordinary weapon and he's got suspicions that this this is that Rean shit all over again, seeing as the source of all the weird stuff in Cartesio seems to be people from other worlds.]
We were told that was an accident.
[Officially anyway last he was told by another firefighter at the station.]
no subject
With you guys they sure are. Don't be making more fires.
[Please. Just...don't. It's awful]
It was, the underground wiring got all frayed and caused a short-circuit. That's why those cameras were set, to keep an eye on those areas. I heard it was Axel's idea. [Rookie Fireman smiles] This guy's brilliant. We're lucky to have him.
no subject
Oh...?
[Kino looks over Axel's way with a faint smile. The odd weapons have definitely not escaped the traveler's
notice.
Gently glossing over the implication, Kino goes for an earnest:]
I'll have to thank you too, Mr. Axel. It would be terrible if a fire really were to happen in that area - I'll sleep much more soundly knowing you're looking out for us.
Have you worked here long, then?
no subject
Lost my pop in a fire. Wouldn't dream of it.
[Have some reassurance, Rookie dude. He'll wait to see if Axel answers Kino's questions before asking anything.]
no subject
[Sorry if they're distrustful of you guys, you don't really have a good track record! From the chair, Axel shouts:]
Three weeks and counting!
[He doesn't sound very willing to talk to them, apparently. Seeing no further response from his partner, Rookie Fireman clarifies:]
One day he came here and showed us his credentials. This guy's pretty qualified, top marks in everything. A bit eccentric, but that's nothing unusual. He had just moved into the town.
no subject
So Mr. Axel is even newer than we are...
no subject
No, we've been here the same amount of time.
[There's a contemplative look and then:]
Are you familiar with the Sergeant, Axel?
[Zero fucks given about the clear "don't talk to me" coming from Axel tbh.]
no subject
Never heard of him before.
[He says before slamming the door closed, the sound of something being locked can be heard, too. Welp. Rookie Fireman winces]
He's pretty easygoing, but I think you guys irk him. Can't blame him, though -- even though you two don't seem as bad as others, you're destroying our town and nobody likes that.
If there's nothing else for us to talk about I think I should get going.
[Looks like there's time for one single question more!]
no subject
Right. [Not like he's not used to being judged by the behaviors of other people or nothing. It's fine, it's not something that makes him salty or nothing.]
Then I'd like to ask about those weapons of his. They don't look like they're from around here and I could swear he used some kind of telekinesis to move them to his hands. Seems a little strange.
no subject
Yeah, that's something he can do. Cool, huh? When he got here with us he already had them, maybe they're from wherever he was living at before? I dunno. Never asked him.
[Apparently he's not too concerned about Axel's telekinesis when it's about his chakrams, yeah]
That all? I better get things to fix that hole on the wall. You guys didn't have anything to do with that, right?
[He sure hopes. Without even waiting for an answer, this guy walks away. Looks like you're done here! And you gathered some potentially useful info, too!

The traveler will wait until they've exited before speaking to Keith.]
That went... well?
[No one's stabbed, no one's arrested. Good job team.]
no subject
We've got a lot to mull over.
[He doesn't necessarily sound delighted about this.]
How long ago did Rean say he moved here again?
no subject
[But that still fits with Axel's timeline.]
...They still have their powers. Weapons, too.
[That could be a problem.]
no subject
[Though realistically, if they're being brainwashed that could change very quickly.]
You thin they're at full power?
[Sting, Hawks and the others with powers seem to all have been weakened, but that might not apply to Axel and whoeever else might've been here the week prior to their arrival.]

[Better to be cautious and survive.]
