Fourth Week

A second murder shook the town of Cartesio. Clarisse's ambush plan ended with Katsuki Bakugou's death. Now what?

Nothing to be done other than continuing their life and watch what happens. After two weeks, after the deaths they have seen, it's hard to think there's a way out. The only option is to wait for the right chance to turn the tables and see a weak point in the Sergeant's plans -- and hopefully not see any murders.

The townspeople's attitude towards the tourists soured even more. The destruction of the church was much worse than anything they had seen so far, and they ran out of patience. People who in the past were nice and wanted nothing more than to make the tourists happy now aren't afraid of saying to their faces what's what. Random pedestrians shout at the visitors, telling them to stop being criminals. Although there are a few who have more patience than the rest, general opinion is clear:

The tourists are nuisances, to say the least.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

[Kino ate at noon, but won't hold back from taking some tamagoyaki, too.

Yum.]

The Sergeant can alter memories. It seems it's a power he was born with in his own world. ...I'm still not sure where Iceland is supposed to be, though.

[Anyone? Please???]

He has no reason to, but the method can be undone. It didn't damage their memories beyond repair. Besides that, he has a few different powers. [How did he put it...] "Some electricity, blunt force, some telekinesis," and "varied minor abilities" he said he couldn't list because they'd take too long. Personally, I think one of his superiors told him not to. Either way, he's confident he can deal with any of us if we try to go against him.

Also, who made the hole in the wall of the firestation? Keith and I went inside to check it out. There were two people watching all these TVs - it looked like they were monitoring the streets around the motel and the park. They said it was to make sure there wasn't another incident like the fire from before.

...

One of them was named Axel, and he had... unique weapons. It looked like he could move them into his hands telekinetically. The other person hardly seemed to mind it at all. They said he moved in about three weeks ago - he showed up with all these qualifications out of the blue. The monitors were his idea, apparently.

[Kino will look to Sakura, Millium, and Wayne if they're around.]

Does that sound familiar?

Yeah. Axel was here with us during that first week. He was a really nice guy...

Wait, wait. Hang on. You said you found him at the fire station?

[quickpersuader]

Yeah. He didn't seem to like us much - the other one talked to us more.

Mr. Axel said he never heard of the Sergeant before he slammed the door in our face.

[doublelammy]

Well, you did kinda break into his place. Guess that makes sense.

[Even though Millium isn't faulting them for doing so at all. The wall was open!!]

It's just funny, 'cause, like... he can use fire, and now he's a fireman...

He has fire powers?

[Yikes.]

[doublelammy]

Yuppers.

That's irony, right?

That's also dangerous...

He looked like he was getting ready to fight us when they realized we were there. If he can use telekinesis, he could have his other powers, too.

[doublelammy]

Well, yeah. No matter how you look at that, it's really not good for us if we're on that guy's bad side.

[quickpersuader]

Can you think of others we should be careful around if we run into them?

[clearities]

Axel-san was a part of our group... [ That much she can at least confirm for Kino. ] But if the method can be undone, that's good. Maybe we can find a way to restore everyone's memories. Also, um- I think Iceland is next to Europe, if I remember correctly?

[yonosoymaria]

Yes. It's to the north and the west, about level with Norway.

[And after that, he frowns, looking over at Kino.]

The sergeant said he was from there?

[quickpersuader]

A small island near it.

[Meaning Kino is extra at a loss.]

He and his superiors were there before they came here. He didn't even know they would be going to another world for... whatever this is.

[clearities]

So... all of his superiors were from the same world?

[quickpersuader]

From what I understand.

[clearities]

I see... [ It seems that she's thinking about something, but what, she doesn't say. ]

Did you find out anything about that?

[yonosoymaria]

So, then, it's entirely possible there is someone outranking him, some higher commander. Damn.

[There's no point in taking out someone's subordinate, after all.]

[quickpersuader]

Definitely. He said he didn't know he was going to another world, but it also didn't really matter because if he wasn't told beforehand, it wasn't his business to know.

He probably doesn't know all the reasons behind what he's doing, but if his superiors tell him to do it, he'll do it.

Iceland’s in Europe.

[...]

It’s a country from where I’m from. Never been.

[quickpersuader]

Then he's from an island near that country. Do you know where that might be?

[Kino has no idea where to even start with this new geography.]

[burgerprince]

Didn’t do that great in Geography, sorry.

[quickpersuader]

[Kino can't judge, their own world doesn't exactly have world maps either, apparently.]

Guess we'll just have to keep trying to get what we can out of him.

Maybe I'll try paying him a visit.

He's different when it's one on one. He seemed like he would have liked to talk philosophy, a little... But he'll also more or less answer what you ask unless we're forbidden from knowing.

Philosophy? In what way?
