Fourth Week

A second murder shook the town of Cartesio. Clarisse's ambush plan ended with Katsuki Bakugou's death. Now what?

Nothing to be done other than continuing their life and watch what happens. After two weeks, after the deaths they have seen, it's hard to think there's a way out. The only option is to wait for the right chance to turn the tables and see a weak point in the Sergeant's plans -- and hopefully not see any murders.

The townspeople's attitude towards the tourists soured even more. The destruction of the church was much worse than anything they had seen so far, and they ran out of patience. People who in the past were nice and wanted nothing more than to make the tourists happy now aren't afraid of saying to their faces what's what. Random pedestrians shout at the visitors, telling them to stop being criminals. Although there are a few who have more patience than the rest, general opinion is clear:

The tourists are nuisances, to say the least.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

We... We have it on record, everyone who volunteered to take part in the execution. The...remarkably unsettling number of people who volunteered...

I'm... I'm sorry, but for so many witnesses to lie seems...excessive.

[She's just going to bury her face in her hands and mime shivering and crying (because she can't do it for real) while Lammy "hugs" her tighter.

We all wanted to give her a quick death instead of suffering through the electric chair. The Sergeant doesn't give us an option.

[ he'll stand behind millium, holding her shoulder as well. ]

You shouldn't be interviewing kids either way, sir.

[Thank you, dad. She knew she could count on you.

Lammy lets her go so that she can throw herself at Oda, wrapping her arms around his middle to cling and burying her face in his chest.

What a nice place to hide so she can act.]

Wah...!

[Man, it's a good thing she actually has bawled this excessively before. Otherwise there's no way in hell she'd be even remotely convincing right now.]

[ HE IS HOLDING HER AND RUBBING HER BACK WHILE GIVING THE REPORTER A STERN LOOK ]

All you're doing is bringing back awful memories for her. She's as traumatized as the entire town is.

[ He's...stammering, oh dear. He really didn't mean to make a child cry. ]

I... All I want to do is understand and stop these things from happening. I object to execution as a method...in general, and...the lot of you, you in particular, Mr. Odasaku, have been entirely too gung-ho on it.

[ Yeah, he's heard about last week as well. ]

Why let a child take part in something like that, to begin with?

Call me Oda. [ he says that seriously. no, reporter, you cannot call him by his nickname ] Gung-ho, no. As I said, we have no option. If we do not participate, the culprits would suffer for longer on the electric chair. [ a pause, a flicker of regret on his expression ] I also wish we didn't have to kill.

[ but man he will continue to lie for millium's sake ]

The issue was that she misheard him. A mistake that has clearly traumatized her-- don't you see?

All of this again hinges on one man being the force of all of this. As if... As if the group of you don't have any agency yourselves.

[ And that doesn't seem like something he's willing to accept. ]

...I am sorry for the girl. That much, I will say. It seems she's suffered a lot...but you're not going to convince me that so many people volunteering to kill another of their group is anything but suspicious.

Perhaps not a lie, exactly. You yourself mentioned a child being killed and the destruction of the church, I'd just been falsely accused and forced to publicly expose something I hadn't even shared with my closest friend yet... sometimes, when under stress and emotional pain, people don't see what's actually there.

[cartesio]

It's a little hard to misconstrue something like volunteering to kill another person, miss. I can understand being upset by everything, but...

After everything else that happened, she insisted on saying I was suspicious, and--I can't be sure what she was thinking, but you must have noticed that I'm different from the others. [So Olympia is definitely implying that Clarisse was a robot racist.] I think it's understandable that, at that moment, I wanted to kill her.
