Fourth Week

A second murder shook the town of Cartesio. Clarisse's ambush plan ended with Katsuki Bakugou's death. Now what?

Nothing to be done other than continuing their life and watch what happens. After two weeks, after the deaths they have seen, it's hard to think there's a way out. The only option is to wait for the right chance to turn the tables and see a weak point in the Sergeant's plans -- and hopefully not see any murders.

The townspeople's attitude towards the tourists soured even more. The destruction of the church was much worse than anything they had seen so far, and they ran out of patience. People who in the past were nice and wanted nothing more than to make the tourists happy now aren't afraid of saying to their faces what's what. Random pedestrians shout at the visitors, telling them to stop being criminals. Although there are a few who have more patience than the rest, general opinion is clear:

The tourists are nuisances, to say the least.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

[...It's odd seeing Kino this enthusiastic. So odd that Keith just ends up staring a little. Cosmo, however, is just as DELIGHTED by the attention and busies himself with head nuzzles. And yes, probably leaving a bit of wolf slobber on Kino's hands and shirt in the process.]

...You really like wolves, huh.

[But he's starting to just smile about it. Cosmo's a good space wolf and Keith's just happy to see Cosmo happy.]

[Petpetpetpet. The slobber just elicits more laughter.]

Who's a good space wolf?

[Oh god Kino is baby talking the space wolf. And then, without even looking up at Keith:]

He doesn't talk, does he?

[...Cute, Kino. Also weird still, to see you laughing, but hey.]

He doesn't for now. I'm still waiting for it to happen. i want to know what name he chose for himself.

[Because you know, that's a totally normal expectation, Keith. All of that is said with such blindingly painful earnestness. Cosmo's just closing his eyes, clearly pleased.]

I think he likes you.

[Sounds legit to Kino. Can Kino get away with burying their face in Cosmo's fur for a couple seconds? Because we're trying that now.]

He's a very good boy. Maybe one day he'll learn how to talk... Riku did.

[Which actually brings with it a thoughtful hum.]

Riku's owner was a swordsman, too. [Is this a swordsman thing? Getting awesome dog/wolf buddies?]

[Cosmo is a good boy and will indeed let Kino do this. God knows how lonely space woof was under the Sergeant's care.]

Really? [And all the other paladins doubted him!! How dare.] How long did it take? Was there any special training involved? Special food? Was being a swordsman somehow important to Riku learning to talk?

[THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT.]

[COSMO IS THE BEST. Cosmo is now getting belly rubs if he so desires them.]

I'm not sure... I only met them for a short time. Less than a day.

One thing after another happened, and I sort of saved his owner's life? [Who is Shizu. We just don't care enough to remember.] Riku thanked me for it on the road out of the country.

..Huh.

[THIS IS ALL SUPER INTRIGUING and Keith's just watching Cosmo contentedly receiving belly rubs with what is definitely the most optimistic look he has bothered putting on his entire time at Cartesio.]

One day then....

[And he'll come over to join in with chin scratches for space woof.]
