Fourth Week

A second murder shook the town of Cartesio. Clarisse's ambush plan ended with Katsuki Bakugou's death. Now what?

Nothing to be done other than continuing their life and watch what happens. After two weeks, after the deaths they have seen, it's hard to think there's a way out. The only option is to wait for the right chance to turn the tables and see a weak point in the Sergeant's plans -- and hopefully not see any murders.

The townspeople's attitude towards the tourists soured even more. The destruction of the church was much worse than anything they had seen so far, and they ran out of patience. People who in the past were nice and wanted nothing more than to make the tourists happy now aren't afraid of saying to their faces what's what. Random pedestrians shout at the visitors, telling them to stop being criminals. Although there are a few who have more patience than the rest, general opinion is clear:

The tourists are nuisances, to say the least.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

Yeah... Sakura-chan has a way to record things, too, but she needs her staff t’do it. I’m hoping she gets that back soon, ‘cause it’d really help us.

[He nods.] She mentioned it to me. Additionally, it can create life-size, three-dimensional images, which would make it much more useful for comparisons.

[oh... he didn’t know that! he just thought it recorded things like a video camera]

Yeah, definitely. But I wonder what that news reporter’s gonna do in the meantime. [he supposes they’ll find out tomorrow]

With any luck, get some more information from the Sergeant.

I hope so. [he was really pushing for the guy to interview the Sergeant. but...] I just don’t want him in any danger.

Neither do I. The townsfolk have been worried enough over everything. They don't need a disappearance on top of it.

Especially since they seem to rely on the newspaper for all their info. ...They seem kinda... closed off from the rest of the world, yanno? [no doubt that is the Sergeant's doing]

[A nod.] According to the Sergeant, the last group of visitors-before even Sakura and her group-was years ago, before even he came here.

[another group of visitors...]

Before him, huh? I wonder if they had to do weird stuff, too.

[silvertongueheir]

Probably not. From what he says, it seems there wasn't any Sergeant back then.

[relieable]

Yeah, but... there could've been another badguy. Like, a predecessor. [now he's just coming up with wild theories]

[silvertongueheir]

Maybe. Though I would suspect there would be more stories about them in that case. Even if they came before anyone now living in this town remembers. It is true that the Sergeant hasn't been told much about this town's past either, though.

...Do you know anything else about the town's past? [he should... really try talking to the townspeople himself]

[He hasn't really asked about that yet, either.] Well, I think I've mentioned the fact that the townspeople are the ones who design those puzzle locks in the places we've been to. And apparently it's something they've done for a while. The Sergeant doesn't seem that fond of them either.

[oh... that's very interesting, actually]

Huh. Maybe if we really wanna get under his nerves, all we gotta do is make weird puzzles.

[silvertongueheir]

Perhaps someone could set up one on the Lodge door while he's making one of his announcements. He only vetoed leaving to contact the police, after all. [Loophole!]

[he looks a little devilish]

I wonder what kind of puzzle, though. Maybe he'd have to get different pieces from each of us.

[silvertongueheir]

Maybe in a specific order, as well. With each person having a clue to the next one.

[relieable]

[he's liking this a lot!]

Or each person gives him one true clue, and one lie! Or a riddle!

[silvertongueheir]

[This is clearly the best plan.] Give the first person one true riddle, the second person one truth and one lie, and the third person one truth and two lies, and so forth.

[he nods enthusiastically, then laughs. at least that took away some of the tension. guess they'll have to wait and see what the newspaper says tomorrow]
