Fourth Week

A second murder shook the town of Cartesio. Clarisse's ambush plan ended with Katsuki Bakugou's death. Now what?

Nothing to be done other than continuing their life and watch what happens. After two weeks, after the deaths they have seen, it's hard to think there's a way out. The only option is to wait for the right chance to turn the tables and see a weak point in the Sergeant's plans -- and hopefully not see any murders.

The townspeople's attitude towards the tourists soured even more. The destruction of the church was much worse than anything they had seen so far, and they ran out of patience. People who in the past were nice and wanted nothing more than to make the tourists happy now aren't afraid of saying to their faces what's what. Random pedestrians shout at the visitors, telling them to stop being criminals. Although there are a few who have more patience than the rest, general opinion is clear:

The tourists are nuisances, to say the least.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

[ How he wound up there is one of life's greater mysteries. What's also a mystery is how he doesn't immediately know the answer to this question. Not keen to think on it either, so after a second he leans back and slips his hands into his pockets and gives a gesture that could pass for a nod. ]

Usually involves trying to kill each other first.

[unfashionably]

[ Could and does. Dabi's flirting with someone, huh? That's interesting. Enough to make him he hop over the bench and squat on it. Yes. Squat. He doesn't sit like a normal person even though it is a bench and that's what it was made for. ]

Doesn't that make it exciting?

[amburere]

[ Least Sting isn't spinning around in a bar stool while wielding a knife, so his odd sitting position doesn't get much more than a glance. ]

That and other things.

[unfashionably]

[ So accepting of you, Dabi. ]

Like what?

[amburere]

Stupid. Unpredictable. [ He says fondly. ]

[unfashionably]

[ Why look at that, Dabi's practically glowing. Or not, but he sounds fond and that's as close to glowing as Dabi probably gets. ]

Anything else?

[amburere]

[ Unless you count when he's literally aglow with fire. In a second or two he'll realize he's not sure why he's answering Sting's questions, but sure one more answer can't hurt. ]

Reckless.

[unfashionably]

[ Or can it? Because now Sting raises his hand. Yes, yes he wants a high five. For this. ]

That's awesome! Your crush sounds exactly like my idol! [ Except Natsu is better, which he keeps to himself. Natsu is the best though, just sayin'. ]

[amburere]

My what. [ There is so much wrong with what's happening here. Instinctively or not, Dabi slowly raises his hand. He's probably not going to return the high five, judging by the growing flicker of blue embers. ]

[unfashionably]

[ That's okay. Despite the flames, yes, Sting helps himself to Dabi's hand to complete the high five. And then tries to shake the flames off of his hand??? If it doesn't work he'll deal with it in a few seconds. ] Crush?

[amburere]

[ By the time Sting goes for the high five, it's more than just a few embers. For a full second, it's a whole lot of fire until Dabi's instincts kicks in and he pulls his hand (and the flames back). ]

You're insane and you have a death wish.

[unfashionably]

[ The whole thing didn't work. Sting mulls on that, on Dabi's reaction, and takes a good long look at Dabi for a few seconds before softly shaking his head. ]

It's not like that. [ He doesn't want to die, not that he wants to live forever either. ] It's just... I'm not afraid of you. You're my friend.

[amburere]

[ He mutters a word which is unintelligible, mostly thanks to his drawl. A few moments pass where he just stares, mulling over the situation in his head. ]

Right. You're not the only one. [ Despite the ambiguity, his words are terse. And then in an abrupt topic switch- ]

Are dragonslayers fireproof?

[unfashionably]

[ If he can make out Dabi's muttering, he doesn't react to it. All he does is wait anxiously for Dabi to actually say something. He's tempted to ask if it's a good thing he's not the only one—Dabi doesn't exactly sound pleased here—but is cut off by his question. ]

Not me personally, but we're built tough. It'll take more than a few flames to burn me up. [ A pause. ] Unless they're white, anyway. Nothin' "white" is gonna work on me, no matter what it is.

[amburere]

Got it. [ After a lengthy pause. ]

Don't say stupid shit.
