Fourth Week

A second murder shook the town of Cartesio. Clarisse's ambush plan ended with Katsuki Bakugou's death. Now what?

Nothing to be done other than continuing their life and watch what happens. After two weeks, after the deaths they have seen, it's hard to think there's a way out. The only option is to wait for the right chance to turn the tables and see a weak point in the Sergeant's plans -- and hopefully not see any murders.

The townspeople's attitude towards the tourists soured even more. The destruction of the church was much worse than anything they had seen so far, and they ran out of patience. People who in the past were nice and wanted nothing more than to make the tourists happy now aren't afraid of saying to their faces what's what. Random pedestrians shout at the visitors, telling them to stop being criminals. Although there are a few who have more patience than the rest, general opinion is clear:

The tourists are nuisances, to say the least.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

[ Hm. Walking over to the register and setting down his cans of coffee. They get pushed to the side as he and the cashier exchange some words, looks like he asked for a piece of paper and pencil. ]

Deliver 'em here. [ MOTEL- ROOM #2. ]

[marmoron]

[Keith's squinting at this exchange. Can't see the paper, but he's pretty sure he can see where this is going.]

Where are you getting this crap delivered?

[amburere]

My purchase, my delivery. [ That's how this works, right? The buyer of the goods get to dictate where they go. ]

[marmoron]

[Well that definitely makes it clear that the delivery ain't going to Dabi;s room.]

As the person helping you buy this stuff, I'd like to know where it's all ending up.

[amburere]

Help? All you did was shout at the cashier. [ In the meantime, the poor clerk will have something to post on r/retailhell today. ]

[marmoron]

[Deadpan.]

I talked. Politey. You're real sensitive if you think that was yelling.

[It'll be a fantastic post with a thrilling conclusion. A conclusion that looks like it might be ending with them reaching for the phone like they're just considering calling the cops right this second before these two asshat tourists cause trouble.]

[amburere]

What can I say, heroes get me on edge. [ Paladin, hero, similar enough. Dabi's got his eye on the clerk, cause he's more than ready to split if he has to. Wouldn't be the first or last time he's tailed it out of a convenience store. ]

[marmoron]

Who said I was a hero?

[There's a bit of ironic self awareness to that question. It's not like he's been acting much like a hero here, nor does he really think of himself as a hero. More like the product of a bunch of messed up coincidences.

He turns slightly to keep the clerk in his peripheral vision. He, too, has no real intention of dealing with the cops tonight.]

What else is a paladin supposed to be?

[ There's more to it than that, this is just the easiest avenue. ]

[marmoron]

Doesn't matter if I got the job through a clerical error.

[Is he serious? Hard to tell. If there's one thing Keith is good at, it's being deadpan af.]

[amburere]

Did'ya tell the Sarge? Maybe he'll fix it for you. [ Right back at you, Keith. ]

[marmoron]

I'd rather not waste my powers of persuasion on something that trivial.

[A beat.]

What's got you so uptight about heroes anyway? They ruin your evil villain plans one too many times or something..

[amburere]

[ Headtilt. ]

You ever met a villain who likes heroes?

[marmoron]

[Dryly.]

I can think of at least one villain with a crush on a hero, yeah.

[amburere]

Sounds like one hell of a "villain". [ Back to being incredibly sarcastic. ]

[marmoron]

[Shrug.]

s it a rule in some villain manual that you can't develop feelings?

[amburere]

Oh yeah, it's right below our mandatory body count quota. [ It's almost tempting to elaborate more than just being plain snarky, but eh. ]

[marmoron]

There's an actual manual.

[What even....]

[amburere]

[ Did he- Ha, Dabi laughs clearly amused. ]

Keep that face hero, it suits you.

[marmoron]

I'll take it into advisement.

[He will do no such thing. But finally he'll ask the darn question:]

What's all the coffee for?

[amburere]

[ A beat. ]

Skincare regimen.

[marmoron]

[Okay, he knows people who bother with this "skincare" crap, i.e. Lance. He's pretty sure Lance has never slathered coffee grinds all over his face.]

How's that work.

[amburere]

[ R u sure Keith. ]

Exfoliation, anti-aging, UV protection... [ If he sounds like he's reciting a list from somewhere, that's basically what's happening. ]

[marmoron]

[....]

And you... care about that kind of thing?

[It's not even judgmental, he's just confused at this point....]

[amburere]

[ A half laugh. ]

This [ Helpfully pointing at the staples. ] is a lot of work, y'know?

[ He's 99% kidding. The staples are a lot of work to upkeep. But that's not the reason for the coffee. Though it is cosmetology related. ]
