Week 4: April 22nd - April 26th

Fourth Week
A second murder shook the town of Cartesio. Clarisse's ambush plan ended with Katsuki Bakugou's death. Now what?

Nothing to be done other than continuing their life and watch what happens. After two weeks, after the deaths they have seen, it's hard to think there's a way out. The only option is to wait for the right chance to turn the tables and see a weak point in the Sergeant's plans -- and hopefully not see any murders.

The townspeople's attitude towards the tourists soured even more. The destruction of the church was much worse than anything they had seen so far, and they ran out of patience. People who in the past were nice and wanted nothing more than to make the tourists happy now aren't afraid of saying to their faces what's what. Random pedestrians shout at the visitors, telling them to stop being criminals. Although there are a few who have more patience than the rest, general opinion is clear:

The tourists are nuisances, to say the least.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

[He'll learn. OR HE WOULD IF YOU HADNT GONE AND DIED MILLIUM.]

Well... kind of?

[Sure he thinks being afraid of these ghosts may be a bit much, but that's not the point.]

It doesn't take bravery to stand up to something you're not afraid of. Being brave's all about pushing yourself to go forward when you're scared.

Huh.

[She looks thoughtful, as if this definition is new to her.]

I never thought of it like that. Being "brave," that's somethin' you praise people for, y'know? And I always just thought of it as doin' somethin' I had to, even if I didn't want to, which doesn't seem too praise-worthy to me.

[He nods.]

I get what you mean. Doing what you have to do, even when it's hard ... that's being responsible. The other paladins and I felt that a lot. We had to fight because nobody else could pilot those lions. At the end of the day, it was our duty, y'know? Either we risk our lives and fight, or we don't and the Galra seize even more territory. Enslave more people. That's not a choice.

[There's a slight frown.]

One of the paladins though... he was always nervous. Babbled a lot about being scared all the time. Despite all that, he's always got our backs. A real firm leg we can all stand on. At first, I kind of thought he was a coward, but lately.. I've been thinking he was the bravest one.

[Millium listens to him quietly, but her expression is a bit distant. Nostalgic, almost.]

Ha... y'know, I think I at least felt more like that back with Class VII. Back then... I think a lot of 'em were a lot braver than me, more like that nervous guy. Even if it was stuff we had t'do, with them, I was just havin' fun.

[...]

And back home, even if it's your duty, that's at least a noble cause, right? Kinda wish I had that to run off of, some days.

[He puts the dagger away as she talks, then stays quiet for another moment afterwards.]

You've got a noble cause here, you know. You've gotta save Rean and take him home with you, right? That's important for you and your friends back home.

...Savin' Rean, sure. Gettin' him back to our friends, yeah.

But with what I am, I gotta get him back to work, too. It's harder to feel okay about that.
