Week 5: April 29th - May 3rd

Fifth Week

Everything's getting worse. Rose Nylund and Frasier Crane murdered Jughead Jones during the event Jughead worked so hard to organize. Given some of the townspeople were in attendance, it didn't give a good impression -- if the visitors did this when trying to be good people and get along with Cartesio, then how will they behave once they get into destroying everything? The cruel method of Jughead's death also left everyone quite horrified, too.

That may be why it's no surprise the town's quiet unrest is slowly turning into real, tangible fury.

During the week, from time to time stones break some of the windows of the motel, looking outside shows a random passerby running away. Graffiti is left on the walls: 'SEE IF YOU LIKE THIS' 'MURDERERS' 'YOU'RE GOING TO DESTROY US ALL', and other similar messages. Some of the store owners hesitate when the visitors approach, but they don't refuse service because money is always nice.

The Sergeant's pervasive influence is starting to cover not only you, but also the entire town of Cartesio. After all, everything that's happening to you and the motel? It's the result of what you and the other visitors have done.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

And sticks the metal bowl in the microwave.

And turns it on.]

[The bowl barely fits into the microwave. Once the door is closed snugly, and it's activated...

For a moment nothing happens. Then sparks stary flying. It's a sizable chunk of metal in a microwave, it's no surprise it's reacting badly. The microwave spews smoke through the joints of the door, until, with a loud explosion, the entire thing bursts in fire.

Alright! That sure is a fire! Come on, Kino, throw anything flammable you have into it!]

[quickpersuader]

[COOL COOL COOL COOL.

If no one stops her, she's going to put the flour on the ground and dribble oil from it to the microwave before she starts moving to put some distance between herself and the flames.

Good thing she's got a mask?]

[OKAY LOOK. Sorry Kino, but he's going to tackle you to the ground if he has to.

HE'S NOT BURNING TO DEATH WITH YOU IN A FIRE.]

[KEITH, PLEASE.]

That should be enough to get things started. We need to be able to move.

[SHE IS ALSO TRYING NOT TO DIE IN A FIRE?]

[LOOK, HE'S GOT SO MANY FREAKING WORDS FOR YOU ABOUT YOUR RISK ASSESSMENT METER BEING BROKEN (irony completely lost on him) BUT FUCK THAT IS A LOT OF FIRE. AND NOT JUST IN THE KITCHEN.]

[He'll get up, grab her by the arm and start moving to safety.]

[It doesn't take long for the fire from the microwave to snake onto the flour and oil. At first it's not too impressive, but once it has a moment to absorb oxygen and grow, the fire grows in size, covering the parts with flour and oil.

Almost unnaturally, like something else is feeding into it, the fire creeps through the floor, through the tiles, reaching the walls and counter.

Out in the sitting area, the doors creak, slowly parting open. Better get out of there before the fire spreads too quickly to get away!]

[WELL SHE MIGHT HAVE BEEN TACKLED BY KEITH BUT if he doesn't resist she'll definitely be trying to get both their asses out.

If he does though he can go on his own!!!]

The door's open! Everyone out! [Gerard starts flapping around, trying to make sure all the stragglers are getting out as well.]

[The moment everyone steps outside, the darkness that seemingly had enveloped the building is gone. Instead there's a familiar street, a familiar pavement, and familiar houses nearby. The cold air outside greets you, the sky is cloudy but doesn't have not even a hint of fog.

It's a peaceful night, interrupted only by the sound of fire. Behind you, the fire is starting to be seen through the windows. Left alone, it spread, covering the entirety of the kitchen and starting to get into the sitting area, feeding onto the wooden counter, onto the seats.

No firemen in sight. No firetruck, or anyone noticing there's a growing fire here. In what's bound to be taken as a rather cruel move towards someone who had always supported the visitors through thick and thin, the Sergeant has made his move.

Mrs. Mitchell's diner is burning down. Arson has been committed.

[clearities]

No! [ She's so upset but also angry the moment she manages to get outside, falling onto her knees, and just crying. Sakura hates this and she's a mixture of emotions-- angry, upset, and torn. It doesn't matter that she's going to stay close to the fire in spite of it all. Because she knew it. She knew this wasn't going to end well, and she hates this, she hates all of it and she couldn't do a single thing to stop the fire herself. Sakura feels so utterly useless in this very moment and it's going to be hard to usher her away from here as the fire burns in the diner. ]

[relieable]

[once Osomatsu's made sure Sakura is safe, he turns his head to look back at the fire. why. why is the Sergeant doing this? why does he want the town against them so badly. under his breath, he mutters] Shit.

[pecker]

[Speaking of stragglers, Niwatori is one of the last to make it out - turns out when she's all on her own, her sense of direction isn't that good. Once outside, she gives a distasteful look at the smoldering building as she puts an immense amount of effort into brushing soot out of her feathered cape. She's too polite to do this herself, but Osomatsu's cursing is certainly a mood.]

I don't think we're going to be able to talk our way out of this one...

[Kino releases a breath, watching it all go up in flames for a moment before turning to return to the motel.

Mission accomplished.]

Bolin is going to try and earthbend any dirt and smother the fire ]

[It's actually a good idea, Bolin! Seriously, it is!

And earth is actually quite effective at smothering fire, all things considered. Dirt, earth, it all falls inside, over the fire.

You may actually manage to stop it from spreading over the entire place! The kitchen seems unsalvageable, and part of the sitting area is falling apart, but at least the infrastructure seems like it'll be okay!]

[ good things at growing up with a brother who has fire powers: you kinda learn quickly that if you have earth powers, you counteract that.

but he's earthbending as much as he can in order to get the fire put out

and once that's done, he's going to bend some more earth to further support the structure ]

Damn... This is bad. [ He was gonna be the last one out anyway so—is there a fire extinguisher here? If so, he's definitely gonna try using it to put out the fire. ]

[Strangely enough, the fire extinguisher that should have been inside was placed on the sidewalk outside of the building.

Odd, but it's there. Go inside and fight the fire, Sting! Bolin's earthbending is helping a lot, too!]

[ Well there's only one thing to do. The diner is already burning, so on his way out he sends a few streams of blue fire to help it along. That's still being helpful, right.

Dabi's not sticking around afterward, so have fun everyone else. ]

he's already earthbending, so when dabi sends a few streams of blue fire at the already burning diner, bolin is responding in in kind by sending a rock right at dabi's head

[Osomatsu is just going to grab Sakura and duck out of the way.
