WEEK 0 — ARRIVAL

Week 0: Arrival

When you wake up you immediately feel something’s off. You sit on the bed and find it’s not your bed, and this isn’t your room either. You seem to be in a rather normal-looking motel room. To your side there’s a trunk, if you open it you’ll find a military uniform, the key to your room, a set of rules and a debit card. Don’t lose those items! Or do lose the rules, you'll find a brand new copy the next day under your pillow. There’s also a calendar on the wall, you can see today’s date. The year is unreadable, but the month and day are very clear:

March 28^th
There it says ‘Meet the Sergeant at the Lodge, 9:00 AM’. There’s also a circle around March 31st, with the word ‘END’ scrawled there.

For now leaving your motel room would be a good choice. When you reach the lobby, you see the receptionist’s desk— no one’s manning it. There’s a rack filled with maps, marking several locations in the town.

There are also many strangers here – and you’re one more. For now it may be a good idea to take a map and explore the town.

After all, looks like you’re stuck here in the boonies for a while.

[ he takes out a cigarette from his pants pocket, lighting it up and taking a drag. at least the nicotine will help him relax. ]

Though you act relaxed, it's not the same as those who "belong to this town". You're as unnatural as the rest who have woken up in the motel.

[ He makes a hand-waving gesture at the smoke drifting near him. ]

Wow. You're a pretty observative guy.

Have any leads on the identity of the one in charge of this place already?

[ He's not being too serious about that, because there's no way someone could so early on. ]

[ oh, oops. he'll step away from axel, letting the smoke drift somewhere else. ]

If only. My observation skills could barely be considered decent.

Barely? It sounds to me like you're underselling yourself.

[ From his point of view, anyway. But he'll continue onwards. ]

Strange, isn't it? I don't even remember coming to this place. Now that takes some skill.

[ he grunts. his opinion of himself is not axel's problem...but he is right. not that waver will admit it.

instead, he decides to focus on what axel says after. ]

It truly does. Even if it is a mere illusion, it takes a large amount of ability to create something so believable. But, in my opinion, this is, unfortunately, not an illusion.

[ Tsk, tsk, Waver. ]

Yep, this feels pretty real to me.

So, before we get more into this weird situation together, how about some introductions?

[ He gestures to himself. ]

Name's Axel. Got it memorized?

[londonstar]

[ ????????????? what kind of stupid introduction is that. waver even raises an eyebrow. ]

It's a name, not a grocery list. I'm El Melloi II.

[ Wow, rood. It is the best introduction in the history of ever.

Either way, he rolls his eyes comedically at the 'grocery list' portion. ]

I think I'm just going to call you Melloi. Since the whole thing sounds like a mouthful. Unless...you're a fan of 'Eli' as a nickname.

[ considering the way he grimaces at both options, he doesn't like either. ]

Could you pick some worse options?

[ He looks like he's giving this some very involved critical thinking! ]

Elly? Or Mell-mell. That worse enough for you?

Those are horrible.

[ he groans. thanks axel. ]

Call me The Second, then, if you're that incapable of saying the whole name.

[ Fingerguns. ]

Glad you like 'em. Personally, I'm a fan and all that.

[ Then he shrugs at the Second. He heard but would he actually use it? Only time will tell. ]

Well, we tackled the hardship of introductions just fine. Anyway, c'mon -- time to scope out this place and see if we can find anything good.

[ he really hopes that axel will avoid using any of the nicknames he thought up. if not, waver's certain that he'll be dead by the end of these four days from gastritis.

he sighs. ]

You're awfully confident I will simply follow after you.

[ but...yeah that's exactly what waver is doing. ]

[ What a wonderful way to die... ]

Weeeell, it looks like I am for a good reason, considering you're already tagging along!

[ Axel gives the man beside him a teasing smirk before they make it outside. His eyes land instantly on CARTESIO POLICE, which is ostensibly the police headquarters. ]

What about starting there? You know what they say about law enforcement...
