Week 5: Trial

      

Last time it was at dawn. Now it's at sunset. The Sergeant gave everyone plenty of time to investigate and gather evidence, and now that everyone entered the courtroom, he slammed his gavel.

"I can sense a few of you are feeling rather hostile. Remember you're in a courtroom, and you're being watched by everyone in town"

People's opinions of the visitors are already very low, but there's no need to feed them further with a brawl in the courtroom -- or so the Sergeant thinks. There are more podiums draped in black now. Five more people died, seventeen people are alive. How many will be left once the trial is over?

"This time we have three victims in total. Millium Orion, Cian Reikado, and Azura were the unfortunate victims last night, and now you shall debate and decide who is responsible for this.

These are your suspects. Vote for as many as you think are responsible for these crimes"

If you did go for the motive, who would you have brought back?

Probably someone from here. [His eyes glance towards Sakura.] I'm fortunate enough to not have lost anyone back home.

I see. Then for you, if you had taken the Sergeant up on his offer, it wouldn't be to trade a life for one who had died and was beyond your reach, but just to try to escape here with at least one other person safely.

[silvertongueheir]

[A slow nod.] No one deserves to be trapped here. And to think of it in the most callous way, the math would even out. [The deaths of two innocents for the freedom of two.]

[quickpersuader]

You're right. Mathmatically speaking, this is the least number of lives that could be traded for the most number of escapees... in the case of a murder.

[robitussin]

...Sounds like you thought of it for a while. How close are you and Sakura?

[silvertongueheir]

[...you know what, fine. Everyone saw him screaming over MIllium's dead body already.] She's one of the people here who are most important to me. But at the same time, I know it would hurt her too deeply if I were to kill for her.

[robitussin]

You wouldn't think it'd be worth it to have her hurt, but safe?

[silvertongueheir]

I wouldn't. She's already been hurt too much. [What with the diner burning down and everything...]

[robitussin]

I don't not believe you, but you realize it's a little hard to take you on just your words for that, given the current situation.

[silvertongueheir]

[He nods.] I understand. There's no concrete evidence pointing at any culprit right now, after all.

[robitussin]

Thank for cooperating, at least. That's all the questions I've got.

[clearities]

[ She's right here and she did hear her name, so-- ] You're right. I don't... I would never want anyone to die for me.

[silvertongueheir]

[His expression softens.] You have a good heart, Sakura.

[odasaku]

Really? As interpol, you’ve never lost anyone you wanted to bring back?

[silvertongueheir]

My main team is smaller. And most of our opponents aren't aiming to kill humans, and our Pokemon can be recalled if they're in danger of death. [Look, he's from Pokemon world and a tabletop world. It's super fucking hard to die in Pokemon tabletop world.]

[odasaku]

So you never made a mistake and recalled one of those Pokemon too late?

[silvertongueheir]

No. It takes a lot of damage to deal a killing blow, and most of the time you have to target an already fainted Pokemon. And most of our Pokeballs by now can automatically recall them when they faint.
