Week 6: Investigation

At around 2 in the morning, a steady rain of hail started to cover the town of Cartesio. The night continued, however, with the motel unbothered, aside from the plink-plink on the roof and windows.

This morning, you'll find the weather's started to let up, though the streets are still blanketed by hail. Mercifully, that's all that's outside the motel this morning. No corpses, no robot remains. That alone should make you feel better, right?

But no. It seems...the town's very alert this morning. There's a strange energy in the air, not just from the Sergeant's horrible threat. Something's off in Cartesio, and you probably recognize that feeling. This has happened four times before, after all.

[oh... oh, that isn't good? Osomatsu's stomach lurches, and he decides to follow the firefighters from a safe distance]

[ What Keith will see first are the fighter fighters running to the library on foot, calling out to each other.

[....Alright, well fuck. Time to give the fire fighters an apprehensive look and go check out what's going on with the library! Is it... is it still standing?]

[ As Kino gets closer, the hope of finding someone alive will greatly diminish, as blood surrounds the person lying here. From how many injuries there are on his body, it seems he put up a fight, at least. That's fitting, for one who grew up in the extreme conditions he did.

Cut all over, still, and cold, there's no doubts:

Kouta "Wayne" Uedera is dead. ]

[ It is still standing! From the outside, there actually doesn't appear to be anything wrong? No still-burning fires you can see or smell. You'll have to go inside and...well, it seems the fire fighters aren't going to stop you.

Maybe the good will from Wednesday is still in effect. ]

[sup Keet. Osomatsu is here! he followed the firefighters and they took him to the library. he looks at Keith for a moment before deciding to enter]

After a slight pause, Kino turns around and heads outside again. She will flag down anyone who wants a reason to be here nearby.]

It's Mr. Uedera.

[Right with you, Oso. Let's checj out what terrible thing has happened inside....]

[ The inside of the building is smokey and damp. Looks like sprinklers caught a growing fire, before it became too much of a problem. However, they couldn't catch everything. The smoke seems to be coming from a little further into the library. Follow it? ]

[Let's roll.]

[clearities]

[ walks in here with a plate of pancakes-- oh. this was a mistake. ] Wayne-san...?

[Kino just gives a small nod, voice reluctant because it's Sakura.]

He's... pretty bloody. You might not want to see it.

[DOES HE HAVE TO? Osomatsu sighs, following. all these damp books. what else is up ahead?]

... [ she's a little quiet, her fingers quivering ] It's okay. If I can help find out who did to Wayne-san... I want to help. [ it's sad because she's the only one left, from the previous group now ] I won't check the body first, but if I have to......

[cartesio]

[ The smokey smell will lead you to the children's section, where something very not suitable for children has happened, given the obvious signs of a fight.

And the person, poking out from underneath an overturned bookcase, right in the center of the smokey area. ]

[Kino gives another nod, because it is not her place to deny Sakura.]

I can handle the body. I'm sure there's other clues in the area that we will need to find, too.

[Well.. fuck. Time to try and lift the bookshelf away to try and see who's pinned underneath.]

Gonna need you hellp, buddy.

Yeah. [ she appreciates it, Kino ] Thank you. And I'm sure we'll find out who did it this time, too. [ she wants to believe in that; she wants to, so badly, especially after how last week messed her up. ]

[he hesitantly steps over to help Keith move the bookcase. he doesn't want to, but he needs to. who is under here?]

[ You won't need to move it that far, at least to see who it is, as the person's head is the part poking out. You'll find the person under it has really not had a good time. Aside from the obvious signs of being trapped under a heavy piece of furniture, they are severely burned, eyes wide open.

It could a mercy, that he's no longer living. After all, he didn't want to be, to begin with.

Osamu Dazai is dead. ]

BODY ANNOUNCEMENT

[cartesio]

[From among the bookshelves, the Sergeant and Waver come out walking. Waver seems to be rather unhappy with the state of everything, but doesn't comment. To his side, the Sergeant shakes his head]

...that's how life goes, I guess.

[He doesn't sound very happy about things. Still, he's here to do his job. Everyone in town will hear it:]

Wayne Uedera and Osamu Dazai are dead. These are the latest victims, and now they shall be avenged. Or perhaps not? We will see. For now, start investigating, and we'll meet at the usual time at the courtroom.

[The Sergeant turns around, walking away with Waver and promising him he would deal with everything after the investigation time was over. Waver simply nods, not bothering to disguise the contempt he feels towards the Sergeant]
