Final Investigation

It's Friday. It's the last day marked in your calendar. Presumably, the few without medals will leave at some point today, and the rest...you're not sure what'll happen to you, but it'll be what the Sergeant wants.

How to defy him when you have so little time left?

Whatever plan you had today, it's guaranteed it won't go like expected. Early in the morning, the ground rumble slightly, and something pops in the sky. Fireworks! One after another, blasts from firework spread through the sky. Many of the residents of Cartesio come to the street, gathering and making all the noise they can.

It's a very radical change of behavior, compared to the once peaceful demeanor they had, and then the hostile behavior showed towards the visitors, but now they're making hubbub and causing disorder. Everyone does it spontaneously, and nobody's approaching the motel at all.

At least none of the townspeople.

Not long after that started, you may hear the noise of horns and whistles from vehicles, right outside the motel. Go take a look?

[ guess we're splitting up and Sakura is going to be preparing herself by taking out her key and calling out: Release! in a whisper to turn it into a staff. just going to check in for any magical or supernatural/ghostly pings ofc as she stays close to the others ]

[ Diligent as always. Sakura will find no magical or supernatural pings. ]

[clearities]

[ well that's good to know! anyway, is there anything that Sakura can find on the ground level up here, given that she's one of the smaller ones in the group? or direct her to a place that isn't being checked, that's cool, too. what do we got. ]

[cartesio]

[ Nothing that quite sticks out other than the monitors that Natalie's investigating, but there's a plate on one of the doors, that'd make it look appealing to investigate.

LABORATORY it reads. ]

[clearities]

Ho~e? [ it's a soft sound instead of something loud and while she's clutching her staff really tightly in case something happens, let's just. try pushing that door and see if it opens. ]

[cartesio]

[ It opens! To a tidy, lovely laboratory. No one inside, but there's some nice early 2000's computers monitors, a little clutter on the counters, some scientific pictures on the walls... This place has certainly been used. ]

[clearities]

[ hm. there's something to be debated about doing in here for a moment, but let's check things out first before making that decision. so some clarifications! what kind of scientific photos are we talking about here? and, if she checks the clutter on the counters, what is she going to find? ]

[robitussin]

[As Natalie heads in, she sticks close to Sakura, and she's glancing around the area as she does so. It's clear from her expression how wary she is.]

[cartesio]

[ As you climb the stairs, what you'll probably notice first is the monitors on the walls of the upstairs corridor. They look a little out of place, probably, but all they transmit is static.

The corridor itself, while a little dusty, fits with the outside decor. It just seems that you're walking through a vacation lodge, monitors aside. ]

[robitussin]

[If she approaches the monitors and gives them a glance over, will she find any way to change their controls or what they're displaying?]

[cartesio]

[ No. There's no controls on them whatsoever, just a broken feed. Weird. ]

[robitussin]

[Weird indeed.

Is there anything else of note in the corridor itself, before she heads into one of the rooms?]

[relieable]

[Osomatsu's Angels are go! he watches Sakura first then starts looking around for anything that stands out immediately]

[cartesio]

[ Those monitors definitely stand out. However, if Osomatsu wants to peak into one of the rooms they're approaching, he'll find something stranger still. ]

[relieable]

[yeah, that sounds like a terrific idea! as they get closer, he'll poke his head in the room. what are we looking at here?]

[cartesio]

[ In contrast to the pristine corridors, this room is utterly wrecked. It doesn't look like a fight or anything, like in your past investigations. No, it just looks eroded by time. It's littered with dust, the furniture--chairs, coffee tables, a general mingling room--shows natural wear and tear... It's overall a mess. ]

[relieable]

[um. that's weird]

It's like it's been untouched in ages. [he almost doesn't know if he should disturb it. but in he goes. are there any cabinets or drawers to open?]

[cartesio]

[ A cabinet or two! He'll find...absolutely nothing but dust. This place really hasn't been touched in awhile. ]

[pecker]

[Obviously, the things most worth checking out are the ones that are locked. Whilst Natalie has her crisis, Niwa's just going to put that key in the lock.

So, is there treasure in here or what.]

[cartesio]

[ Isn't treasure expected to be found, in ruined rooms? Like the ones the others found, walking down the corridor, this room looks like it's old and musty, cracks in the walls and floor.

Also like those rooms, the monitor mounted on the wall shows an identical room. Unlike those rooms, this one seems to have a purpose besides general sitting room: it's a bedroom/study. ]

[pecker]

[Well, then! Let's go to see what is there to study in the study]

[cartesio]

[ Probably most notably is how the bed doesn't appear to be used. The room's wreck, but this bed just seems like it's never been touched. Weird? ]

[pecker]

[Then the task falls upon Niwa to touch it. She was actually thinking more about the study materials, but this bed is just too pristine to ignore compared to all the other musty grossness.

So!! Let's unmake the bed. Anything under the sheets or in the pillowcases? How about the mattress?]

[cartesio]

[ Absolutely nothing! ...Sorry, Niwa, when we say never been touched we mean never been touched. ]
