Peace Week

Sunday must have been exhausting for you, maybe even upsetting. A new town, new faces and a an ominous order from a man without a face... who wouldn't be a little frightened? Hopefully, all of that is forgotten when you climb out from under your blankets this fine Monday. Rise and shine! A new morning is a new start!

If you make your way to the lounge, you will find a few copies of the local newspaper provided for your perusal. Once you go outdoors, you'll find the weather forecast 100% accurate. It's pretty impressive.

It seems that quiet mornings like this are going to be your everyday life now. Maybe you should see this whole stay as a vacation? Go out and explore the town, meet your fellow motel guests and meet the townspeople. They're sure to welcome you with a smile!

This week's special in the diner is lemon pie made with love (and a top-secret recipe)

[Kino?? There's a dining hall????

Hawks looks rather confused, and tips his head to look at Kino from a slightly different angle. Maybe they'll make more sense now??]

....You know there's a dining hall you can get food at.

[it's not even awful food? Not amazing or even that much to Hawks' tastes, but it's edible]

It's not actually for eating off of.

[Kino's tone is matter-of-fact.]

That's just about the right size for what I need.

[Though Kino quite likes the food from the diner. Beats portable rations any day.]

[That's reassuring--it's one thing to dig in here, it's another to eat off of any of this stuff when there's other options.]

As long as you're not going to eat off of something weird from here and get sick, I can help you find what you're looking for. My eyes are pretty good.

[One more jump and using his wings to glide gets Hawks next to Kino. As impressive as his wings are, he's not actually much taller than Kino.]

[So cool...]

I'm envious...

[Must be nice to have wings.]

Thank you, Mr. Hawks.

[And with that, Kino resumes moving scraps of metal off to the side, stacking them somewhat to keep track of what's been checked and what hasn't. Most of the pieces Kino's able to move are thin bits of sheet metal; nothing thick enough to fit the bill.]

["Envious"... That makes Hawks pause.]

Do you want to keep looking here, or do you want to try your luck in another area?

[He remembers being completely ground-bound; there wasn't a better day than the day he first flew. Maybe that's spurred him to continue]

I can give you a lift. A bird's eye view is incredible.

[The freedom can be intoxicating.]

[Kino looks up, about to answer in the affirmative to that question when Hawks offers to give a lift.

Oh.

There's a definite pause as Kino calculates the risk. But then; what's the point of living without taking a few risks every now and again? Kino's definitely traveled to dangerous places knowingly, all just for a glimpse of them in person.

Kino's smile widens.]

In that case, I think I'll take you up on that.

[icariot]

[A smile is much better than the alternative. Hawks might not be an All Might fan, but he can appreciate a smile in the face of questionable situations is a good idea. Plus, even if Kino doesn't have wings of her own, they're obviously used to more freedom than this. After all, a "traveler" is someone without ties holding themselves down.]

C'mon here and hold your arms out.

[Once Kino comes and holds they're arms away from their body, it's only a moment before Hawks wraps his arms around th--her ribs from behind. One two three moments to relax before his wings beat and they rise into the air.

Once they gain enough height, Hawks is going to list to the side to start them in flying slow circles above the junk.]

[Kino does as instructed, arms out so Hawks can lift her. There's a short sound of surprise Kino can't quite stifle at the initial launch, but it quickly turns into a delighted laugh once they're truly airborn.]

Amazing... this is incredible!

[The excitement is unabashed as Kino relishes in the feeling of feet freed from the earth. Somehow, it feels even freer than when she first rode Hermes all those years ago...

She'll probably start looking properly soon. Just give her a moment to enjoy this new adventure.]

[Hawks is more than willing to give Kino a couple moments, gradually increasing their height and speed until they were perfect height to enjoy the sky, and maybe a bit too far to effectively search. Nothing is better than the feeling of wind on your face and the horizon spread out before you.

Hawks lets out a laugh at Kino's excitement, he understands the feeling.]

Isn't it? Flying is freedom like nothing else I've found.

[quickpersuader]

[Nothing is better.]

It reminds me a little of when I first rode a motorrad. [Her tone is nostalgic. They're definitely too far to spot a piece of the likes she was searching for, but she doesn't really care about that right now.]

It's like a whole new world just opened up.

[icariot]

[Another lazy loop, before adding a figure eight to get a different view of another direction of town.]

I'm not sure I've heard of a motorrad, [a difference between where they were from?] but there's definitely a lot of difference in your day when you can fly instead of walk.

[quickpersuader]

A two wheeled vehicle. They can't fly. Some of the others call them motorcycles here.

The first time I rode Hermes, it was to leave my country. The world was so much bigger outside those walls.

[But her tone is distracted as she swivels her head this way and that, taking in the size of the world below.]

[An understanding hum] I've seen motorcycles before. Some people like 'em because they think it makes traffic in the city easier to avoid.

["Outside those walls"... Cages are never a good option. Even one that's apparently as big as a country. ] Sounds like this Hermes was you getting your very own wings, even if on the small side still.

[quickpersuader]

He was. It's not the reason I decided to travel, but... if I hadn't escaped then, I never could live like I do now.

[Actually, Kino wouldn't be alive, period.]
