Peace Week

Sunday must have been exhausting for you, maybe even upsetting. A new town, new faces and a an ominous order from a man without a face... who wouldn't be a little frightened? Hopefully, all of that is forgotten when you climb out from under your blankets this fine Monday. Rise and shine! A new morning is a new start!

If you make your way to the lounge, you will find a few copies of the local newspaper provided for your perusal. Once you go outdoors, you'll find the weather forecast 100% accurate. It's pretty impressive.

It seems that quiet mornings like this are going to be your everyday life now. Maybe you should see this whole stay as a vacation? Go out and explore the town, meet your fellow motel guests and meet the townspeople. They're sure to welcome you with a smile!

This week's special in the diner is lemon pie made with love (and a top-secret recipe)

Well, where does anyone get their stock from? [ A light laugh. ] We don't usually have to get the whole store's worth! But it's alright.

[ He waves the question off, essentially. ]

Are they made in this town?

[Definitely going to pick up some of these knives for real though, they aren't pretty, but they could come in handy.]

[cartesio]

Around here. [ A shrug. ] ...Careful with that, alright? Don't want to hurt yourself.

[quickpersuader]

It's okay. I learned how to hunt from a young age.

What is the best hunting in this area?

[cartesio]

Long as you be careful, now, ya hear? [ He takes a few steps closer. ] I'd rather no kid got hurt on my property...or anywhere, at all.

We got...deer, elk, in a few valleys outside of town.

[quickpersuader]

[Kino is aware of his movements, and makes sure to handle the knives with care. After he finishes speaking, Kino will actually go ahead and set the knives down before turning to him.]

Do you have any maps of the area? I might be interested in checking it out.

[cartesio]

Well, just a map of the town... But I can find that for ya, if you want.

[quickpersuader]

[...You know what? Everything's free, so might as well.]

Sure, I'll take it.

[And, after a quick glance around the shop:]

Since it's only hunting gear, you probably don't do business with the Sergeant, right?

[cartesio]

That guy? Ohh, yeah, he hasn't set foot in here.

[ Just talking as he rummages behind his counter for a map. ]

A regular hermit, he is. Barely even noticed him, for awhile.

[quickpersuader]

[Back to selecting knives! It's very important they be good quality.]

Does that mean he moved here recently?

[cartesio]

Probably. I mean, I'm a friendly guy, you know? I don't really go outta my way to avoid people.

[quickpersuader]

You don't remember for sure?

[cartesio]

[ He shrugs again, laid back about the whole thing. ]

Not for sure. But he just showed up, so I'd bet...well, my lucky hat!

[quickpersuader]

How mysterious.

[Kino looks thoughtful however before moving on and setting down... quite a number of knives. Five, to be exact. Those and some binoculars.]

Also, do you have any portable stoves?

[cartesio]

[ Eyebrows raised. ]

Well, yeah, in the back. You're quite the go-getter, aren't you?

[quickpersuader]

I usually just make my own campfire, but since I'm here I thought a portable stove would be useful for camping.

[cartesio]

What do you need to camp for? Why... All of you guests have yourselves motel rooms, don't you?

[quickpersuader]

You said the best hunting is in the valleys, didn't you?

If I camp there for the night, I can be up early for a full day's hunt before I return.

[cartesio]

...You're really thinking of going out hunting, aren't you...? You gonna take someone with you? No offense but...well, I don't know if I'd feel right, letting a kid go out there alone.

[quickpersuader]

It isn't the first time I've gone hunting on my own. But... I'll probably ask the other tourists to see if anyone would like to join me.

It would be a shame not to see everything this place has to offer.

[cartesio]

[ Okay, he looks better about that. ]

Now that's an idea. Alrighty, let's get all your stuff checked out, then. I'll grab that stove.
