Peace Week

Sunday must have been exhausting for you, maybe even upsetting. A new town, new faces and a an ominous order from a man without a face... who wouldn't be a little frightened? Hopefully, all of that is forgotten when you climb out from under your blankets this fine Monday. Rise and shine! A new morning is a new start!

If you make your way to the lounge, you will find a few copies of the local newspaper provided for your perusal. Once you go outdoors, you'll find the weather forecast 100% accurate. It's pretty impressive.

It seems that quiet mornings like this are going to be your everyday life now. Maybe you should see this whole stay as a vacation? Go out and explore the town, meet your fellow motel guests and meet the townspeople. They're sure to welcome you with a smile!

This week's special in the diner is lemon pie made with love (and a top-secret recipe)

[She doesn't look offended or disturbed in the slightest when she happens to walk past and glance at the artwork he's added to his profile, but she does tilt her head slightly.]

You realize that just makes it look like jerking off is one of your dislikes, right?

[Osomatsu glances up at her... then looks back down at the guestbook. huh, he hadn't considered that]

Really? [that's a shame! jerking off is one of his most favorite past-times]

Yeah. I mean, it's right under the dislikes section. Pretty misleading, if you ask me.

[relieable]

...You're absolutely right. [he snaps the guestbook closed, sets it aside] I guess I better fix this by writing 'I love wanking' all over the lodge!

[of course, if he does it there, it will look like the Sergeant is the one who loves jerking off. which is the joke, honestly]

[robitussin]

...Thanks, I definitely needed to know that.

[wow. he thought you were going along with the joke! you're no fun!]

Everyone's read the guestbook by now anyway. Besides, it's not like I was drawing it for them.

Tell that to Sakura when she comes to you asking what this is supposed to be, or what wanking means.

[She gestures at his drawing as she speaks.]

[Osomatsu huffs indignantly. he grabs the guestbook again, then rips out the page. of course he doesn't want Sakura to find the book]

There. Happy?

About the outcome to this situation? Sure, yeah. It works.

[She's curious, though.]

I wonder if he's going to replace it. The page, I mean.

[relieable]

Probably. Someone ripped up the guestbook when we first got here, made it into confetti, or something. That's why I didn't get a chance to read it until now.

[robitussin]

Pretty smart of them. Too bad it didn't stick.

[She glances at the guestbook as she continues.]

It's pretty weird and terrifying overall, so have fun reading it.

I wonder how Sarge knows all this shit about us. [he flips through the book again, but isn't really reading it] He said something at the meeting which sounded like he was just writing down what he heard. But who'd he hear it from?

[robitussin]

Yeah, that's the terrifying part I mentioned a second ago. There is literally nobody I can think of who would know all of this about me.

[She crosses her arms again, uncomfortable, as she thinks about it.]

[relieable]

[yeah, he's uncomfortable too. it's easy to be lured in by the friendly people, and the nice town, but that doesn't change what the Sergeant said. Osomatsu sighs and leans back in the seat, watching her]

It's really scary. But we're all in the same boat, yanno? I think we could be okay if we all look out for each other.

[robitussin]

[There's a moment of clear surprise; she blinks, then gives him an incredulous look.]

...That's not actually what you think is going to happen, is it?

[relieable]

[ah. he was shot down already. he pauses, then links his hands behind his head, trying to act like it's no big deal]

...All that guy wants is for us to follow orders, right? He said that if we wanted to go home badly enough, we had to kill someone, but, if we do shit for him, we'll still get to go home. Eventually.

[robitussin]

Yeah, I know that and you know that, but if you're expecting everyone to go with that... I mean, you realize how naive that is, right?

[relieable]

[this kid is so negative...]

Look, I'm not saying everyone's gonna be that way. But the majority of the people I've met don't seem like they're interested in killing me.

[robitussin]

[It's her greatest skill.]

There are fourteen people who have some kind of combat listed on their profiles. Also, there are multiple people who have some form of violence listed under their likes. That's not even getting into the other sketchy stuff written down there.

[relieable]

So? I live in a big city where sketchy things happen all the time. Doesn't mean everyone's interested in killing. Don't you think running around here generating fear and paranoia is unhelpful?

[robitussin]

That's not what I'm doing. I'm telling you not to let your guard down so much in a situation that's way more dangerous than living in a big city.

[relieable]

[a pause... he drops his arms, considering. Osomatsu's somewhat naive, sure, but he does realize that this girl's probably right, for the most part. after hearing what Sakura said at the meeting, he's been on edge. he hasn't been sleeping well, and he's homesick. so he's definitely not taking things lightly]

...I got it.

[robitussin]

[After a moment, she nods.]

...Okay. Good.

[relieable]

[his somber mood lasts for a moment, before he sets the guestbook aside and gets up, tucking his hands into his jacket pockets]

Well, I'm gonna go grab a bite to eat. [or maybe he'll go to the tavern and drink away this uncomfortable feeling] I've been sittin' here for a while.

[She nods.]

I'll probably see you around somewhere. Small town, and all.
