Peace Week

Sunday must have been exhausting for you, maybe even upsetting. A new town, new faces and a an ominous order from a man without a face... who wouldn't be a little frightened? Hopefully, all of that is forgotten when you climb out from under your blankets this fine Monday. Rise and shine! A new morning is a new start!

If you make your way to the lounge, you will find a few copies of the local newspaper provided for your perusal. Once you go outdoors, you'll find the weather forecast 100% accurate. It's pretty impressive.

It seems that quiet mornings like this are going to be your everyday life now. Maybe you should see this whole stay as a vacation? Go out and explore the town, meet your fellow motel guests and meet the townspeople. They're sure to welcome you with a smile!

This week's special in the diner is lemon pie made with love (and a top-secret recipe)

Seems like the shark alert is real now.

[ even though oda says this with a deadpan expression, he can't help but feel amused with millium's antics ]

Sure is!

[Millium doesn't even stop running until she gets to the next building, just shouting back toward Oda.

Once she gets to her next stop, she comes skidding to a stop, even tripping over herself a little as she fails to calculate her own momentum correctly. This does not deter her from rolling up another piece of tape even as she's correcting her balance, slapping another shark on the wall before grinning back at Oda.]

They're vicious.

[odasaku]

[ oda is keeping an eye on her, of course, ready to go to her help if she tripped or got hurt on her very important quest.

but when he sees the shark drawing on the wall, he huffs, amused. ]

Will they attack humans?

[doublelammy]

They eat them alive.

[She snaps her teeth at Oda a couple of times to illustrate her point before just smiling ear to ear.]

[odasaku]

I see. That does sound dangerous.

[ he nods slowly, as if taking her information with full seriousness. but then, he decides that something else needs to be said. ]

But it's not the sharks you need to worry about. It's the wolves you need to fear. I heard from a store owner that they're as tall as me.

[doublelammy]

[Millium's eyes go as wide as dinner plates.]

Ooh...

I'm gonna need a lot of paper to make one o' those.

What else did the store owner tell you?

[odasaku]

They told me that the reason they have a shark watch is because they're stoppable. But if one of the wolves want you, then--

[ he shakes his head ]

Nothin' will stop them.

[doublelammy]

[Millium is completely enraptured in this story, now, scurrying up to Oda and looking up at him expectantly.]

And what do the wolves do? Do they eat people, too?

[...it's unclear if she actually believes this story or not... She certainly sounds at least a little scared.]

[odasaku]

Hm, who knows? Nobody has ever seen them feeding.

[ there's a heavy pause, and then he adds ]

Perhaps because those that do see them don't return alive.

[doublelammy]

B-but... but... if no one's ever seen them feeding, how does anyone know what they look like?

How do we know they're wolves, and not something worse...?

[Like ghosts...]

[odasaku]

Because they've found fur in the remains of the sharks that they find in the morning. And the shark remains have huge teeth marks, so they know that it's a wolf.

[ he shrugs ]

Scientists know, somehow.

[doublelammy]

[Gasp!!]

Oh no! [She gathers her remaining paper sharks close to her chest, as if comforting them.] Don't worry, sharkies... I'll be sure to protect you from the mean ol' wolves!
