Peace Week

Sunday must have been exhausting for you, maybe even upsetting. A new town, new faces and a an ominous order from a man without a face... who wouldn't be a little frightened? Hopefully, all of that is forgotten when you climb out from under your blankets this fine Monday. Rise and shine! A new morning is a new start!

If you make your way to the lounge, you will find a few copies of the local newspaper provided for your perusal. Once you go outdoors, you'll find the weather forecast 100% accurate. It's pretty impressive.

It seems that quiet mornings like this are going to be your everyday life now. Maybe you should see this whole stay as a vacation? Go out and explore the town, meet your fellow motel guests and meet the townspeople. They're sure to welcome you with a smile!

That we're all here from seemingly different worlds. That this isn't new to at least two people I've met so far.

That's a lot more than I've thought up, at least. I guess all I've thought is that this place is a little too...calm. It's weird, kind of.

That's because it's a "peaceful" town.

... Why does your profile say you like orphans?

[bluntly, suspiciously. the orphan would like to know.]

no, not really. but he does sigh, shoulders slumped in resignation. it's obvious that he's been asked this before. ]

I don't know. It might have something to do with five orphans I rescued during a city-wide conflict. Other than that, I have no idea.

[sometimes, those profiles invite questions ok. he still looks suspicious, but he doesn't have like... a witty retort to that or anything.

he figures he'd be better off trying to judge how much he was lying by watching him.]

[ there's a sigh from oda, a mix of relief and...a hint of sadness. ]

I know my profile is sketchy, but...there's nothing I can do about it, I guess. I'm sorry.

Yeah. You're not the only one with a sketchy profile. [damon, clarisse.] Just thought I'd ask before I start sharing any grand theories I have.

[there's a lot of personal parallels that he's not going into there, but he is willing to drop it for now.]

Mm, it's fine.

[ oda nods, not really minding mako's hesitation. at least he's not being accused of stealing babies, you know? ]

Yeah.

[also stealing babies was unrealistic. possible, but he wasn't going to jump straight there. grooming was a bigger problem for triads.]

I spend my time taking down triad networks, since I've got some experience with them.

[ well, for someone whose profile clearly states that he's a mafioso, oda sure looks...honestly impressed by mako's job. ]
