Peace Week

Sunday must have been exhausting for you, maybe even upsetting. A new town, new faces and a an ominous order from a man without a face... who wouldn't be a little frightened? Hopefully, all of that is forgotten when you climb out from under your blankets this fine Monday. Rise and shine! A new morning is a new start!

If you make your way to the lounge, you will find a few copies of the local newspaper provided for your perusal. Once you go outdoors, you'll find the weather forecast 100% accurate. It's pretty impressive.

It seems that quiet mornings like this are going to be your everyday life now. Maybe you should see this whole stay as a vacation? Go out and explore the town, meet your fellow motel guests and meet the townspeople. They're sure to welcome you with a smile!

This week's special in the diner is lemon pie made with love (and a top-secret recipe)

Police reports are for exclusive use by the police force. Unless you're joining the force you're not going to look at them.

[The mention of that fire gets her tense. She looks down at the paperwork, scribbling a few things]

Don't pay attention to those rumors. The reports state something went wrong with the wiring underneath the streets, and that's final. I trust the experts.

[he notices that.

But he has a feeling he needs something else to drive the point home, though he does try to read what she scribbled down.]

Doesn't the newspaper ever want to report what's happened out, though? Or what about the townspeople

[It's a report about visitors to the town. Most of what says there is about the number of people, and where they're staying. The top says #page 02, yet all the information you see is about your group. She just wrote 'One came to ask about some weird rumor. Causing trouble?'

You're talking with the wrong person. If you're worried about what the newspaper says or doesn't say you should talk to the guy who writes it, not me.

What about the townspeople?

[browbeater]

Don't they want to know what's going on around town?

[hm. so this is how much it takes to cause trouble, huh...]

[Mako, you pretty much barged in, insinuated a rumor, and demanded to read confidential police files. That's trouble!]

We do. We're not a bunch of sheep! We simply... [She frowns, murmuring] ...we simply don't want to talk about that kind of stuff. Because it doesn't matter. It's not like it's going to happen ever again.

[browbeater]

[he asked politely!!! never be a cop in republic city, lady, it would be a lot worse.]

You're really confident about that. Why?

[actually, he'd place her as in denial, but might as well frame it generously]

[She looks straight at him]

Because we're a peaceful town, that's why.

But also he thinks he may have gotten everything he could from this.]
