WEEK 3: April 15th - April 19th

Third Week

The peaceful times are over. Moloch von Zinzer was murdered, and Nine was sentenced as his murderer. Everyone in Cartesio knows that.

Although life goes on, it seems the town of Cartesio isn't going to forget the tourists' transgressions. Not only they commited larceny in the cinema, they also murdered and executed in their town! It's no surprise their hospitality towards the visitors has cooled down considerably.

Not only they're maintaining a tense cordiality with them, they also have started talking behind the visitors' backs. All kinds of rumors are starting to sprout, yet nobody seems to be willing to say it to the tourists' faces. Talking directly to most passerby makes them distrustful, and nobody seems to want to be in close quarters alone with them.

It's only matter of time before the relationship between tourists and Cartesio starts degrading even further.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

He's going to head to the display to see what to do here to try and presumably move the catwalks so that he can get up the stairs and then walk across to the other side.

Tapping the display. Tapping a wench. Let's see how you're supposed to move this stuff around.]

[Kino makes their way over to take a look at the display and tries a solution??]

[The catwalks move. Slowly, the sound of moving machinery fills the rooms, the catwalks soon forming two paths for everyone to cross. On the catwalk nearest to them there's a collection of tools. Pipes, wrenches, rocks, and many other similar objects.

And at the end of the catwalks, a large machine.

Looks like the implication is clear.

One of the wrenches has a note:

Get it done, leave the building, and I'll take you back]

[Hmm...

Time to head that way and take a closer look at the machine!]

[...Olympia might be positioning herself between Millium and the center of the machine.]

[she's just trying to keep you out of the potential explosion!]

[Seems to be some kind of...large machine. From the inside there's a lot of gurgling and gears spinning. Pipes come out of the top, spreading throughout the rest of the building. This thing's receiving crude, and the end result falls down chutes into other parts of the building.

Seems to be a rather important part of the interior of the refinery. No wonder you're being told to do this]

...Okay, vandalism is one thing, but I feel like messing with this could seriously fuck things up for people.

This...doesn't seem like something we can hack away at with reckless abandon.

[This looks like something that has a reasonable chance of blowing up when it's vandalized.

What? Are you expecting Olympia to vocalize that thought or something? Don't be silly.]

This kinda stuff, it's dangerous, isn't it? Like... explodey-fiery-dangerous?

Yeah, can we all try to not die? Like. More than usual.

Maybe we can just... press some buttons and turn it off...?

[Kino might be sticking towards the back of the group for that reason.]

[Yeah. Yeah, this shit is definitely important. And there's definitely a reason people are hesitating before doing as told on this one. Lots of good reasons.

But fuck it, he's not leaving Cosmo with the Sergeant. And he's also not going to waste time moralizing with people over this, so...

He'll just jam a wrench between two gears.

This'll definitely buy them enough time to get out and might be easy to fix if someone gets here quick. Right?]

[In a kinder universe, maybe.

In this universe, the wrench is jammed pretty well between the cogs. The machine sputters to a stop, the crude stops flowing in and out. Slowly, the lights everywhere dim a little. The sound of machinery all throughout the building stops.

Way to go, Keith]

Oh, come on!

[And from across the catwalks, there's a rather frustrated man, with several astonished workers behind him, as well as Sakura and Gant. The man steps forward, lifts a hand to his face...

Rocks certainly can't do anything but cause damage. [Look it if was just the wrenches maybe there could be a different way to interpret it!]
