WEEK 3: April 15th - April 19th

Third Week
The peaceful times are over. Moloch von Zinzer was murdered, and Nine was sentenced as his murderer. Everyone in Cartesio knows that.

Although life goes on, it seems the town of Cartesio isn't going to forget the tourists' transgressions. Not only they commited larceny in the cinema, they also murdered and executed in their town! It's no surprise their hospitality towards the visitors has cooled down considerably.

Not only they're maintaining a tense cordiality with them, they also have started talking behind the visitors' backs. All kinds of rumors are starting to sprout, yet nobody seems to be willing to say it to the tourists' faces. Talking directly to most passerby makes them distrustful, and nobody seems to want to be in close quarters alone with them.

It's only matter of time before the relationship between tourists and Cartesio starts degrading even further.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

I don't know about magnificent... But he kind of looks like if one of those ugly hairless dogs and an emu had a child!
silvertongueheir: (I had in store)

[A slight "humph."] I suppose you wouldn't recognize him as an Archeops. They were more common in the prehistoric age, but with modern technology it is possible to revive them from fossils.

Prehistoric? For real?

[HOLY HELL??]

I didn't know there was technology that could bring dinosaurs back from extinction! I thought they all died for good when that big meteor struck the earth.
silvertongueheir: (I always knew)

[personal profile] silvertongueheir 2018-10-21 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
In my world, that technology exists. Though I'm sure there are still many other species that we have not been able to revive yet. The number of existing known Fossil Pokemon evolution lines can be counted on two hands.

Oooohhh. [Other world person. Got it. Nods like she gets it. (She actually doesn't.)]

But wouldn't it be dangerous to revive them? After all, they're... dinosaurs. [Basically.] They could eat you if they really wanted to. [Do you really want a Pokemon version of Jurassic Park???]

[personal profile] silvertongueheir 2018-10-23 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
Well, nowadays they're brought back as eggs and hatched by Trainers, so they'll imprint on them. He was also much smaller when he first hatched. The largest one upon hatching is probably Aerodactyl, and they prefer fish anyways.

[personal profile] duckrotation 2018-10-23 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
And you're not at all worried that someday they might just turn on them?

[BECAUSE... THAT CAN HAPPEN...]

They couldn't have been domesticated nearly as long as- whatever else you have. [She doesn't get Pokemon. Didn't reach that year yet.] It's like alligators. Even if they imprint on you, they've still got all those sharp teeth and if you make one wrong move that they don't like... [SMACKS HER HANDS TOGETHER AS A GESTURE] CHOMP!
silvertongueheir: (I always knew)

[personal profile] silvertongueheir 2018-10-23 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
Of course not. He's a good boy, aren't you Gerard? [He gestures, and the Archeops comes gliding down to land next to him, on the opposite side from Rose, so that he can ruffle his fur.]

It's not like there aren't other Pokemon as dangerous as he can be. Besides, I have his Pokeball with me, so if truly necessary I can recall him. [He takes the red-and-white sphere out of a pocket to show her.] Though I'm sure he's had enough of being cooped up for a while now.

[Squints at the archeops. While he's... endearing in his own right, she still doesn't completely Trust Like That. Though, after a second she directs her attention the red and white ball that Francy's holding.]

That can hold him? Isn't it a little small for. Gerard.

[By "a little" she means "way too small."]
silvertongueheir: (I always knew)

[personal profile] silvertongueheir 2018-10-23 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
Of course. All Pokeballs work that way. [He holds it out to Gerard, who nudges it with his snout. There's a bright red glow as he's sucked in, disappearing into it. Franciscus holds the ball out for her to examine.] You can recall them by pointing and pressing the button as well. Each ball is registered to one Pokemon only, unless it's empty.

[personal profile] duckrotation 2018-10-23 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
[UM??? She's not going to question it but her eyes are definitely wide right now. Weird Pokeball laser technology bullshit is wild. ]

But how can you know for sure that a pokeball is empty- or well, unregistered. And what happens if you have more than one of those things? Wouldn't you get confused?
silvertongueheir: (Default)

[personal profile] silvertongueheir 2018-10-23 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
An unregistered Pokeball has a different weight to it, and usually they're kept separately from registered ones. Most Trainers simply remember which of their Pokemon is positioned where, or mark their balls in some way.
duckrotation: (pic#12602024)

[personal profile] duckrotation 2018-10-23 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Different weight.... But wouldn't they be turned into whatever light you used to put that thing in the ball? It just doesn't make sense.

[Why is Pokemon science like this???]

Do you have any more of those things? Those. Pokemans.

[Spoken like a true grandma.]

[personal profile] silvertongueheir 2018-10-23 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not a Pokeball scientist, so I can't explain all the details. Still, be assured that we have our ways of distinguishing Pokeballs.

[He nods at her question.] Though the rest of them are still in the Sergeant's clutches. But hopefully he will treat them as well as he has done for Gerard.

[personal profile] duckrotation 2018-10-23 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
That Sergeant guy really is a jerk.

[but]

Are the rest of them similar to Gerard? You know, prehistoric fossils.
silvertongueheir: (Default)

[personal profile] silvertongueheir 2018-10-23 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
He's kept one promise, at least. [Though he shakes his head at her second question.]

Not at all. There's only a few species of Pokemon that fall under that category. Many more of them are already a natural part of the ecosystem.
duckrotation: (pic#12602042)

[personal profile] duckrotation 2018-10-23 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[Huh.]

What are the rest of them like?
silvertongueheir: (I always knew)

[personal profile] silvertongueheir 2018-10-23 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, all sorts of creatures. There are over 600 species known, after all. There's ones that are more like animals, and ones more like plants, as well as others made up of all kinds of materials.
duckrotation: (pic#12602042)

[personal profile] duckrotation 2018-10-23 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I was actually asking about your other little friends. The ones the sergeant took. I was curious about them.

[She didn't really doubt there being hundreds of different species. That's kind of a no-brainer considering how many animals there are on earth, both discovered and undiscovered.]
