Week 3: Investigation

This week's cloudy, dreary weather culminates in a thunderstorm, lasting most of the previous night. That means when you awake this morning, the town is damp and dark. It's not just the weather that gives off an oppressive feeling, though. The air, it's heavy.

The Sergeant told you, after all. This is your last day to prevent your deepest, darkest secrets from being revealed.

There's no immediate evidence that anyone's followed his orders, though. Maybe you'll get through this week without anymore unnecessary death.

Or, maybe not. Maybe you should take a look around town, just to be sure.

[ It sure is a hole! A very large one, like who could've possibly made this? Did someone order a new door, because that's what the hole functions like. Are you going to look inside? You can easily enter the church this way. ]

[ There's something bad in there.

To be specific, the place looks completely wrecked. One hell of a fight happened, and it'd be hard to name a place in this poor church that was untouched. ]

[ Louder, with more emphasis, as she follows the crew inside. ]

This wasn't another vandalism quest... was it?

It looks like there was a fight here.

[ he’ll keep on looking... is there a body???? somewhere??? ]

That's a lot of damage for a fight... Someone would have to have super-strength or maybe explosives for this....

[ And god, she doesn't like the sound of that. She'll stick close to Odasaku as he explores the inside of the church. ]

[Kino eyes the damage, but presses forward, searching for signs of a corpse.]

[ Well, there's a lot going on here. Jughead's got the back of the church, where poor Jesus lays in pieces. You can push forward, more into the sanctuary, toward the altar and the like. Or, there are a few short hallways off the sanctuary that also look like they've seen better days. ]

[Let's check the altar before we get to the halls.]

[Is this one big rubble fest or is there anything notable to be seen?]

[ Well, there's a lot notable, and it's less a rubble fest as it is a destroyed pews, shattered glass, broken candles...fest. Particularly, that Jesus statue? It's completely blown to smithereens. Watch your feet, ceramic is everywhere. ]

[So it was obviously a fight - is there blood spatter?]

[ Surprisingly, it doesn't seem like there's blood anywhere that you can immediately see. ]

Was someone looking for something...? [Franciscus enters through the door to avoid getting too much debris dust on himself, Gerard hovering outside.]

[Very helpfully whistles.

But hey, it looks like its over. Whatever it was. He's going to slink in just enough that he can't be seen from the outside. Cause that could be bad. Is everything just smashed. ]

Wow... Reminds me of home...

[ Pretty much, though there's something else going on. You can inquire more about the state of everything later, after making sure...no one's died. ]

Yeahhhh. If we weren't fucked before, then we are now...

[Kino nods in greeting to Cian before heading into the hole, eyeing it cautiously. Kino is super ready to move if it looks like any debris is about to fall, and one hand hovers over the revolver at the hip.]

[ Thankfully, it doesn't look like any debris is going to fall? The wall's holding well enough, it's not like the foundation's unstable. ]

[What's the crowd for? He's reaching for his gun even if he's at the back. ]

[Kino even manages a brief, if wan smile before heading in.]

If you say so... [He shrugs and there's a grim smirk for a second. ]
