Fourth Week

A second murder shook the town of Cartesio. Clarisse's ambush plan ended with Katsuki Bakugou's death. Now what?

Nothing to be done other than continuing their life and watch what happens. After two weeks, after the deaths they have seen, it's hard to think there's a way out. The only option is to wait for the right chance to turn the tables and see a weak point in the Sergeant's plans -- and hopefully not see any murders.

The townspeople's attitude towards the tourists soured even more. The destruction of the church was much worse than anything they had seen so far, and they ran out of patience. People who in the past were nice and wanted nothing more than to make the tourists happy now aren't afraid of saying to their faces what's what. Random pedestrians shout at the visitors, telling them to stop being criminals. Although there are a few who have more patience than the rest, general opinion is clear:

The tourists are nuisances, to say the least.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

[unfashionably]

[ If Dabi's looking for something to hold his attention he's in luck. Sting is at the park doing some foraging when he notices his friend toying with the frost. Ordinarily, he'd come over and that would be that, but... Dabi's disappointment stands out. To him, at least, and it's more than a little worrying.

Quietly, he comes over with a white daisy in hand. He gently brushes some of the lingering frost from its petals before leaning against the back of the bench and holding it out. Yes, Dabi, it's a present. The horror. ] Here.

[amburere]

[ The frost holds Dabi's attention until Sting draws near, and he's silently relieved there looks to be no hugs on the agenda today. Sadly, his relief only last several seconds once he sees Sting's amiable gesture. ]

.................what. [ Staring, first at the flower (of course it's white) and then at Sting. ]

[unfashionably]

[ Excuse, that was weeks ago. He may be friendly, but even he isn't the type to hug someone completely unprompted. He is, however, apparently the type to present a flower to someone without much prompting.

But that's different. ] What do you mean what? It's a flower.

[amburere]

[ It's still fresh in his mind, okay. Let's try this one more time. ]

...why?

[unfashionably]

You look like someone who could use a flower right now.

[ Why else?? ]

[amburere]

[ Swing and a miss. Hm.

Reaching out to take the flower very gently. And then: lighting the flower on fire. ]

What 'bout now?

Come on, man! What are you doing? Don't waste it—!

[unfashionably]

[ Without any other warning, Sting grabs Dabi's hand and practically lunges forward.

Chomp! He's trying to eat the flower, fire and all. ]

[amburere]

[ Good news and bad news. Bad news first: by the time Sting lunges for the flower, it's little more than ash. RIP daisy. Good news: Sting may be a physical affection ninja, but Dabi's reflexes are pretty damn fast when his quirk is involved. So thankfully, Sting gets just a hint of blue fire (and maybe some ash) in his mouth and not the whole flame.

That's probably a good thing too, considering the temperature his fire runs at. ]

You're insane.

[unfashionably]

[ Don't you mean good news, Dabi cares enough to put out his fire so he doesn't accidentally kill his friend? Because that's what just happened.

Also, the fact that the flower is gone is honestly predictable but absurdly tragic, to the point where Sting deflates on the spot. Such a waste... ]

Yeah, yeah. [ Are you happy, Dabi? Now he's pouting. ]

[amburere]

[ Prove it.

Finally something he knows how to deal with. Sting used pout, it wasn't very effective. Points for admitting the insanity though. ]

What, you really wanted to eat it?

[unfashionably]

[ Don't worry. It's rarely effective. ]

Why else would I be gathering flowers?

[amburere]

Ikebana? Courting? Boredom? [ These are all more typical choices than eating them. ]

[unfashionably]

[ ... ]

Do you think I was courting you?

[amburere]

No. [ Incredulous, but less horrified than you might expect. ]

That'd take giving me a pet and cooking me breakfast in bed.

[unfashionably]

[ If Dabi said anything other than "no," he would've laughed. Thankfully for everyone here? Dabi is firmly in the friend zone. ]

That's what it takes, huh? Anyone ever try it?

[amburere]

[ How he wound up there is one of life's greater mysteries. What's also a mystery is how he doesn't immediately know the answer to this question. Not keen to think on it either, so after a second he leans back and slips his hands into his pockets and gives a gesture that could pass for a nod. ]

Usually involves trying to kill each other first.

[unfashionably]

[ Could and does. Dabi's flirting with someone, huh? That's interesting. Enough to make him he hop over the bench and squat on it. Yes. Squat. He doesn't sit like a normal person even though it is a bench and that's what it was made for. ]

Doesn't that make it exciting?

[amburere]

[ Least Sting isn't spinning around in a bar stool while wielding a knife, so his odd sitting position doesn't get much more than a glance. ]

That and other things.

[unfashionably]

[ So accepting of you, Dabi. ]

Like what?

[amburere]

Stupid. Unpredictable. [ He says fondly. ]

[unfashionably]

[ Why look at that, Dabi's practically glowing. Or not, but he sounds fond and that's as close to glowing as Dabi probably gets. ]

Anything else?

[amburere]

[ Unless you count when he's literally aglow with fire. In a second or two he'll realize he's not sure why he's answering Sting's questions, but sure one more answer can't hurt. ]

Reckless.

[unfashionably]

[ Or can it? Because now Sting raises his hand. Yes, yes he wants a high five. For this. ]

That's awesome! Your crush sounds exactly like my idol! [ Except Natsu is better, which he keeps to himself. Natsu is the best though, just sayin'. ]

[amburere]

My what. [ There is so much wrong with what's happening here. Instinctively or not, Dabi slowly raises his hand. He's probably not going to return the high five, judging by the growing flicker of blue embers. ]
