Fourth Week

A second murder shook the town of Cartesio. Clarisse's ambush plan ended with Katsuki Bakugou's death. Now what?

Nothing to be done other than continuing their life and watch what happens. After two weeks, after the deaths they have seen, it's hard to think there's a way out. The only option is to wait for the right chance to turn the tables and see a weak point in the Sergeant's plans -- and hopefully not see any murders.

The townspeople's attitude towards the tourists soured even more. The destruction of the church was much worse than anything they had seen so far, and they ran out of patience. People who in the past were nice and wanted nothing more than to make the tourists happy now aren't afraid of saying to their faces what's what. Random pedestrians shout at the visitors, telling them to stop being criminals. Although there are a few who have more patience than the rest, general opinion is clear:

The tourists are nuisances, to say the least.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

Ok. I'm sure that was real freaky and all, but if these ghosts wanted to kill us, don't you think they'd have done that already?

What was stopping them from just stabbing us while we were sleeping?

What if you being scared is just making them stronger.

[He seriously doubts this mind you, but if she's going to be irrationally afraid, this is what she gets. It is the natural conclusion of her own reasoning and all.]

You can't just magically stop bein' scared of things! That's not how that works, Keet!

You may not be able to magically stop being scared, but that doesn't mean you can't start being brave whenever you decide to.

[It's what Hunk does, isn't it? But once the kinda-sorta encouragement is out of the way, it's back to his usual scheduled grumping.]

And stop mesing around with my name.

[Tentatively, she steps into the room.

...Okay. She's not dead. Yet. She continues over toward Keith.]

It's a term of endearment. [That's a no.]

[He's making a face at her, muttering:]

[God that'd be weird. Krolia coming up with pet names. It'd been weird enough finding out she wanted to name him :Yurak." Back to the point though:]

See? Nothing bad happened. Don't you feel a little less scared now?

Well, maybe your mom should just get good.

[Looks like she's not budging on this, Keet.]

...I guess. But if somethin' pops up outta nowhere you're on your own, 'cause I'm outta here.

[You know what, he's going to try this new awesome strategy of ignoring it and seeing it it'll get boring and she'll stop calling him Keet of her own accord!! Hrmph.]

Leaving me to die alone, huh.

Listen, it's not my fault if you don't run fast enough.

Well someone's gotta stay behind and buy you enough time to run.

[Okay, that earns a glare, alongside puffed out cheeks and her hands on her hips.]

Nuh-uh. The idea is you'd run too and save your own skin. You ain't layin' down nothin' for me.

[SHE WON'T ALLOW IT.]

[It's probably not helping that Keith isn't really taking this seriously, but...]

Maybe I don't like to run from fights.

Yeah, sure. Nobody does. But sometimes, you don't get a choice.

[She folds her arms. Looks like she's entered serious mode, at least.]

And if it comes down to you running to recoup or dying 'cause you didn't wanna give up, you better run, okay? You're enough like Rean and you got enough dumb in you as it is. You don't gotta copy that stupidity from him.

[He can see that Millium's serious, but that delivery just gets a look.]

He got the snot beaten out of him by Crow when the civil war started. It was so bad that after Valley got him the heck outta there, he was out cold for a month.

He only got outta there 'cause Valley overrode him. He was still screamin' "nooo, they need meeee, let me staaay" even as he was gettin' flown off.

And I can totally see you doin' that, too. So, take it from me: It's stupid. Don't.

Look, you don't understand. I don't have a death wish or anything, but we're not gonna find answers to anything if we just put up a white flag when things get difficult. Sometimes you have to fight for the bigger picture and you're not always going to make it inside the frame.

That's not what I'm sayin'. I know what it's like to fight for somethin' bigger, even if you don't think it's gonna end well.

We coulda died there, too. But we kept fightin' to get him away, 'cause it was for the "bigger picture."

So what I'm sayin' is that you're a part of that bigger picture. So don't go throwin' yourself in harm's way. Fight if it's important, but if you gotta run so you can come back n' fight later n' win, you better freakin' run and not just stay put 'cause you have an ego.

[They've meandered quite a bit away from the topic of ghosts at this point. Probbaly his fault for giving her a more serious reply before. All the same, he's just a little surprised by the sentiment. Not surprised enough that he's not slightly defensive, but... his tone is a little softer.]

Ego has nothing to do with it. Look. Petty arguments aside, if a fight's serious I don't fight because I think I'm the best and have something to prove. I fight because I have to.

Can't we try talking to it first. What if it has something important to say?

If it has nice things to say, then it's obviously not somethin' scary.
