Week 4: April 22nd - April 26th

Fourth Week

A second murder shook the town of Cartesio. Clarisse's ambush plan ended with Katsuki Bakugou's death. Now what?

Nothing to be done other than continuing their life and watch what happens. After two weeks, after the deaths they have seen, it's hard to think there's a way out. The only option is to wait for the right chance to turn the tables and see a weak point in the Sergeant's plans -- and hopefully not see any murders.

The townspeople's attitude towards the tourists soured even more. The destruction of the church was much worse than anything they had seen so far, and they ran out of patience. People who in the past were nice and wanted nothing more than to make the tourists happy now aren't afraid of saying to their faces what's what. Random pedestrians shout at the visitors, telling them to stop being criminals. Although there are a few who have more patience than the rest, general opinion is clear:

The tourists are nuisances, to say the least.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

[It's clear from her expression that she hasn't considered this, but she nods after a moment.]

...Maybe. I guess I could ask him about it later. [An almost amused noise.] I bother him enough, after all.

[doublelammy]

May as well, yeah? Worst you can do is get his usual shady dodgy answer.

What is it you go bother him about? I've only really been t'see him the once.

[robitussin]

[She shrugs.]

Whenever something seems weird to me or something new happens, I run it by him. Like you said, the worst that ever happens is that he refuses to tell me. Everything I’ve got out of him is something I’ve brought up at a meeting, though.

[doublelammy]

Yeah, I figured as much. I don't really see you havin' a reason to hide anything from all of us.

[It's a bit of a strange thing to say, but in this place? It's kind of a compliment.]

Huh. I'd bug him more myself, but I'm just never really sure what to ask about. That was never really part of my job, you know? It was more go in and take stuff or just monitor stuff to see if anything's weird, not... interrogations.

[robitussin]

It'd be pretty stupid not to consolidate all the information that we have.

[She tilts her head.]

I mean, I'm not really familiar with interrogations either. But - I've had decent enough success that I feel like he's less guarded with me? Or at least, he isn't surprised enough by me heading his way that he refuses to say anything, if that makes sense.

[doublelammy]

Prolly right about that. That prolly wouldn't stop some people, though.

[Because some people, as they're going to find out this weekend, are beyond stupid.]

Makes enough sense, I guess. He didn't really seem too surprised when I came in last week, either, but there's somethin' to be said for routine.

[robitussin]

Yeah. He'd probably get used to you pretty quick if there's anything you wanted to ask him.

[A smirk, though.]

But I also get not wanting to bother. He's basically the worst.

[doublelammy]

Hehe. Got that right.

[She doesn't seem to have more to say on that topic, though. Instead:]

Hey, hey. Enough about him. You should play something else!

[robitussin]

[She pauses, then nods with a small smile.]

You got any requests?

[doublelammy]

Ehe... I don't actually know too many songs.

What's your favorite? Play that.

[robitussin]

[She has to take a moment to think about it, but then she starts to play again, wordless once more as she goes.]

[doublelammy]

[Millium listens quietly, closing her eyes. This one is wistful, but sort of sad, she thinks. Still, it's pretty.

And really, that sort of mood, it suits Natalie.

She doesn't make a noise until the end, at which point she picks her hands up off the ground behind her to applaud softly.]

[robitussin]

[Just like the last time, her hands linger on the keys for a few moments after the song ends. One last moment to savor the feeling that the world has slid into place, and everything is the way it should be for a few more moments.

The clapping brings her out of it, and she glances towards Millium again.]

...Thanks.

[doublelammy]

Ehehe. You are kind of a lot like my friend Elliot, y'know?

You said you weren't that good, and he says stuff like that all the time, but you're both liars.

[robitussin]

[She goes a little red, glancing back down at the keys and summoning her best Indignant Voice (TM).]

I'm not a liar. I just didn't want to, like, get your hopes up.

[doublelammy]

[More giggling.]

Okay, fine. You sell yourself short, then.

I'm glad I got my hopes up anyway. It was worth it!

[robitussin]

[It's clear from her expression that she's growing even more flustered, which might explain the incredibly subtle subject change when she continues.]

What's he like? Your friend, the one who plays the violin.

[doublelammy]

[Flustering Natalie is something Millium will consider a great success, thanks.]

Elliot? He's way more shy than I am, a little awkward. But he's really, really sweet, he's always lookin' out for everyone else.

He's not mousy when it comes to music, though. Once he gets in his zone? He's worse than some of the army generals we've met...

[robitussin]

[Bless you, Millium. She looks relieved for the shift in topic, at least, tilting her head in curious.]

Yeah? Worse like how?

[doublelammy]

Ohhh, man. So he was the one in charge of our class' concert for the school festival, right? He had us workin' way overtime to get everything perfect for it. And like, it's not like school stopped or anything for the concert. We were still goin' on field studies n' we still had lots of classwork to do... he'd keep us up all night practicin' if we weren't doing as well as he wanted.

[And all of this is recounted fondly, naturally. Commander Elliot may be terrifying, but he is still Elliot, and Millium loves him entirely.]

[robitussin]

[She takes a moment to think that over.]

...Okay, my thoughts on that depend on whether everyone else who was supposed to perform was also a musician, or if it was just a bunch of random people.

[doublelammy]

Ehe. Only a couple of us actually knew how to play instruments, and even then, like... I know Rean played guitar, but he normally played lute? So it wasn't usually the same thing.

[robitussin]

Couldn't he have found, like... Real musicians? You can't get anybody to sound that good in a short period of time, no matter how much you make them practice.

[doublelammy]

It was for the school festival. Every class had to put on some kind of event, and ours was the concert.

And I mean... we won, an' Class I put on an opera. So I dunno, Elliot might just be a miracle worker.

[robitussin]

...Holy shit.

[She seems suitably impressed, at least.]

How late did he make all of you stay up to pull that off?
