Week 4: Investigation

A late frost has settled over Cartesio. Ice clings to the grass, to the variety show stage, not yet melted by the sun. How could it be, as it's yet to rise Friday morning?

It is only technically Friday, as the planned variety show reaches into its very final hour. Nearly everything on the schedule's been completed, and the cleanup process has begun.

That's probably why no one expects it, not now. Not this early. It's hard to miss, whether you're attending the show or getting some rest. After all, the sound, it comes from somewhere close to the motel. Somewhere close to the show.

Three gun shots ring out at one in the morning, echoing through the park. Something has gone very wrong.

[Typical.

Time to start actually helping, then. Oda seems to have the body poking covered, so do we have anything of interest further away?]

[cartesio]

[ You won't find anything too far from the body, unless you want to start dipping into other areas. However, there's something very suspicious, not too far from poor Jughead... ]

[carbide]

[Olympia's definitely here for something. What do we have here, an unexpected object or the like?]

[cartesio]

[ That depends. Is a gun unexpected? ]

[carbide]

[...I mean I guess technically it isn't, since they heard gunshots, but it certainly seems important. Olympia will definitely take that. What kind of gun is she holding now? I mean, she isn't what you'd call a firearm expert and what knowledge she does have involves words like "flintlock" and "musket," but is it like a handgun or a hunting rifle or what?]

[cartesio]

[ It's a handgun! She may have to ask someone more experienced to tell what make it is. ]

[carbide]

[Neato. She'll ask about that first thing at the trial probably unless she runs into someone here.

Anything obviously interesting about it other than just the fact of it being a gun at the scene of a murder--does it have distinctive markings, does it happen to look exactly like the gun used in Nine or Clarisse's execution, were the Beatles right and it's warm, etc.?]

[cartesio]

[ Well...... It's warm?! So yes, the Beatles were right. But nothing else about the gun seems to standout. It just seems to have been discarded here. ]

[carbide]

[She's not a girl who misses much, do do do do do do, oh yeah.

So. Was this deadly weapon just kind of sitting around on its own, or was there other stuff around it? Other than Jugdead, I mean.]

[cartesio]

[ It's sitting on its own, but from this vantage point, she'll definitely see a few things nearby, both the gun and Jughead.

First of all, there's a spray can, sitting idly about a foot away from the poor teen. ]

[carbide]

[Since she has two hands, Olympia can go pick that up, too. Is it labeled?]

[cartesio]

[ Well, it's a can of paint, that's for sure. It's probably not surprising to see either, considering...

There's some graffiti on the ground! ]

[carbide]

[Oh cool, we've sent the robot to do art analysis. What's she looking at?]

[cartesio]

[ It's a little hard to read, because it's incredibly shaky. Like, seriously it's a miracle there's anything legible here.

What it reads is:

JUGHEAD WOZ HE

...and that's it. ]

[carbide]

[You said it, graffiti. Jughead woz he.

She spends some time carefully memorizing it so she can reproduce it later. She's a robot, that's plausible for her.

Any sign of abruptly stopping at the end, or something along those lines?]

[cartesio]

[ Yes, it absolutely stops abruptly! ]
