WEEK 0 — ARRIVAL

Week 0: Arrival

When you wake up you immediately feel something’s off. You sit on the bed and find it’s not your bed, and this isn’t your room either. You seem to be in a rather normal-looking motel room. To your side there’s a trunk, if you open it you’ll find a military uniform, the key to your room, a set of rules and a debit card. Don’t lose those items! Or do lose the rules, you'll find a brand new copy the next day under your pillow. There’s also a calendar on the wall, you can see today’s date. The year is unreadable, but the month and day are very clear:

March 28^th
There it says ‘Meet the Sergeant at the Lodge, 9:00 AM’. There’s also a circle around March 31st, with the word ‘END’ scrawled there.

For now leaving your motel room would be a good choice. When you reach the lobby, you see the receptionist’s desk— no one’s manning it. There’s a rack filled with maps, marking several locations in the town.

There are also many strangers here – and you’re one more. For now it may be a good idea to take a map and explore the town.

After all, looks like you’re stuck here in the boonies for a while.

Nope, haven't seen her.

Maybe that's a lucky thing, depending on the type of situation we're in. Something tells me you wouldn't want her sticking around in a place like this.

Perhaps you're right... Once is more than enough times to be spirited away, she does not need another.

She's been kidnapped before, huh? Any reason why someone would go ahead and do that?

[ Color him curious. ]

I doubt it has much to do with our current displacement, but those of my sister and I's lineage are graced with very strong magic. Females of the line, and my sister perhaps more than any previous, are especially strong. Someone wished to make that power his own and it was the last mistake he made.

[there's an implied "so watch it bub" in there somewhere, if axel ever does meet his sister]

Guess it could be that instead of her, someone's interested in you -- maybe they figure she might've been too much trouble to bring with her strength but with you it's just the right amount or something like that.

[ He hears the implied but Axel is pretty sure he'll be a - okay either way. ]

That would be a possibility I hadn't considered. I will have to keep that in mind [a pause before he remembers--] thank you. [if that is the reason, what about the other people wandering around?] And yourself? Do you have something that would give someone incentive to bring you here?

Hey, it's no problem.

[ Red heads gotta stick together. ]

Honestly, I wouldn't know. Then again, I've got some skill in magic too -- but especially with fire so maybe they're interested in that.

But you know what they say about fire...you get too close, you're going to get burnt.

[ Axel makes a corny-ass "sizzling" noise and snaps his fingers. ]

Hm, yes that could be a common denominator, at least in our cases.

[Axel's comment and attitude bring a smirk to Luthier's face-- that was similar enough to something Delthea or one of the village children from Ram would say. Sizzle noise and all. It helps Luthier settle himself to have something so familiar.]

That's most compelling, I'll have to agree. Whoever brought us here should have learned not to play too close to fire.

[ They honestly do. ]

I'm sure the others got something our kidnappers want too.

[ He says, ever still so casually, but hey. He's not about to be sad-faced about this. ]

Exactly. Looks like we're going to get along nicely -- by the way, name's Axel.
