Week 5: Trial

      

Last time it was at dawn. Now it's at sunset. The Sergeant gave everyone plenty of time to investigate and gather evidence, and now that everyone entered the courtroom, he slammed his gavel.

"I can sense a few of you are feeling rather hostile. Remember you're in a courtroom, and you're being watched by everyone in town"

People's opinions of the visitors are already very low, but there's no need to feed them further with a brawl in the courtroom -- or so the Sergeant thinks. There are more podiums draped in black now. Five more people died, seventeen people are alive. How many will be left once the trial is over?

"This time we have three victims in total. Millium Orion, Cian Reikado, and Azura were the unfortunate victims last night, and now you shall debate and decide who is responsible for this.

These are your suspects. Vote for as many as you think are responsible for these crimes"

[Olympia walks in, still wearing nothing, and just kind of stares vaguely towards Millium's podium.]

[ Sakura notices that pretty easily since they're right next to each other, but: ] What were you doing last night...?

After the meeting? I returned to my room.

[clearities]

Did you do anything there?

[carbide]

I placed a cactus on the counter of my sink and then entered sleep mode.

[clearities]

... I see.

[ she's got nothing ]

[carbide]

Millium was my friend.

[clearities]

I could tell. But if there's more than one culprit-san... [ the possibility is there but she doesn't want to think that's the case ]

Millium was my friend, too. Doesn't change the fact that both of us are suspects right now.

What were you doing on Friday morning?

[robitussin]

[She catches her eye, since Millium's podium is right next to where she's standing, and addresses her.]

How did you feel about the offer Sergeant gave us this week?

[carbide]

I thought it was well-chosen. Of course everyone has someone to protect, or perhaps someone to revive.

[robitussin]

Right, but I'm wondering if it brought anybody specific to mind for you. Someone you would want to protect.

[carbide]

[it sure did!]

If you had gone for the motive, who would you have brought back with you?

[carbide]

The same person who was endangered by my letter two weeks ago.

[Hm.]

How was he important to you?

[carbide]

Before Millium he was the only person I cared about.

[And yes she realizes how that sounds right now.]

And... Did you have a reason to think he was in any danger?

[carbide]

A band of adventurers had been working against us. Conflict was likely.

[quickpersuader]

He was endangered... but you still would need to retrieve him?

[carbide]

...Did you decide not to wear anything anymore?

[carbide]

I left too quickly this morning to get dressed.

[quickpersuader]

And you didn't get dressed after?

[carbide]

I did not want to return to the motel.
