Peace Week

Sunday must have been exhausting for you, maybe even upsetting. A new town, new faces and a an ominous order from a man without a face... who wouldn't be a little frightened? Hopefully, all of that is forgotten when you climb out from under your blankets this fine Monday. Rise and shine! A new morning is a new start!

If you make your way to the lounge, you will find a few copies of the local newspaper provided for your perusal. Once you go outdoors, you'll find the weather forecast 100% accurate. It's pretty impressive.

It seems that quiet mornings like this are going to be your everyday life now. Maybe you should see this whole stay as a vacation? Go out and explore the town, meet your fellow motel guests and meet the townspeople. They're sure to welcome you with a smile!

This week's special in the diner is lemon pie made with love (and a top-secret recipe)

[So that's how it is. The tasks they'll be given are distasteful, illegal ones. Not approaching murder, but... well, he is no child, now. If it means regaining things tied to his purpose - and then, there's that "to show you're worth keeping alive". Now, there's a thought. There's several thoughts all tangled together.]

Thank you. I truly hope you haven't put yourself at risk with this... I have no few questions, but you've told us all you can, haven't you.

[There's an untouched piece of pie sitting apparently forgotten at his right hand, and he gives it a brief wistful look. His appetite apparently ran screaming from the room as she explained things... that a girl had to be the one to tell them all, that this is his life now... anyone would feel a bit sick, right?]

I hope so, too. I don't think I've forgotten anything...? Unless it's something that I didn't experience myself.

One can hardly be expected to remember someone else's experiences.

[A girl this age should be worried about things like friendships and parties and perhaps schoolwork, not matters of life and death. He smiles, as gently as he can.]

I'd understand if you had no more appetite than I do, now, but if you haven't eaten, you're welcome to this. It'd be a shame to let it go to waste.
