Welcome Party

Though you've never seen the casino before, it is easy to find today. This is partly attributable to the music spilling from open doors right into the town. The people of Cartesio have made good on their announcement - doubtlessly, there is a party going on here.

Anyone entering will be confronted with a friendly citizen pulling them aside to inform them of their dress rental service. Though it is called 'rental' there is no actual fee to be paid. The townspeople have simply brought a collection of suits and cocktail dresses into the casino foyer and they are offering to lend them out for the occasion. A folding screen to get changed behind is provided as well.

Once you venture deeper into the casino, you'll find yourself in a surprisingly spacious room. Tables that might normally occupy the open space have been pushed to the wall and filled with various buffet foods. Though you might be tempted to spend your whole afternoon trying out the various local specialties, the rhythmic music from the speakers tries to lure you to the dancefloor. A few locals are already swinging their hips to the beat.

Though if you're simply looking for the main highlight of a casino, you won't have to look long either. Across from the buffet, you will find a wide variety of game machines. Pachinko, slot machines.... even a few odd-one-out games that look like they should rather belong in an arcade. Try your luck, try your skill! If you prove successful, an employee is waiting to hand out various fun goods to you.

There are quite a few townspeople in attendance on this party, but there is a silent understanding that you tourists are the VIPs here. Anywhere you go, any game you want to try, the citizens are quick to move aside for you and let you have the maximum amount of fun.

[Millium pops back from a buffet run to the dance floor, only to see one of the people she'd tentatively call a friend here wallflowering it up. This will not do.]

Oso~!

[She trots up beside him, just about bouncing on her toes.]

Why're you just standing here?

[yep, he sure is an awkward wallflower. though, upon seeing Millium, he relaxes, and grins at her. what a nice dress she has on! he's actually glad he isn't the only one who decided to dress up]

Hey, Milli-chan! I'm, uh. I'm just doin' a bit of people-watching.

[doublelammy]

[She doesn't seem impressed with that answer.]

Okay, but, like. The dance floor is totally right there. You should go!

[relieable]

[he holds up his hands]

I mean, I totally would, but... I wanna leave a good impression here!

[dancing around naked at home is one thing!]

Pfff. Dancing isn't about making a good impression, dummy, it's about having fun!

[Clearly, she has to take matters into her own hands – literally, as she's reaching out to grab his.]

C'mon! Dance with me!

[hey, Osomatsu's all for having fun! he'll even make an ass out of himself. but he doesn't want to step on any toes tonight... literally!]

Uuuuh! [he allows her to grab his hands and pull him out to the dance floor. he's actually not fighting her at all] Okay, okay!

[Good thing he stumbled across the dance partner who cares the least about that sort of thing. She's probably gonna step on his toes, too.

Well, then! Since he's not stopping her, she's going to keep a hold of his hands as she backs out onto the floor, waiting until she reaches a good open spot nearer to the middle to start dancing.

It's not really any sort of practiced dance, just Millium moving and jumping around to the beat. But she's having fun!]

[watching her dance like that only encourages Osomatsu. he wishes he were a little more drunk, but no time for that now. gotta dance!

he's got okay rhythm, but he's definitely no dancer. that's fine. just moving to the beat is sometimes fun, and he loosens up a little bit with each passing minute]

This is a lot of fun!

[Who needs to be drunk when you can just stop caring what everyone else thinks naturally?

It's just fine that Oso's no dancer – Millium actually has had some practice, but she certainly isn't using it right now. She's just happy to be having fun with her friend.]

Yeah! See? This is what you miss by being a dumb wallflower!

[he laughs at her words]

Yeah, I was totally being dumb. [he looks dumb now, in that fancy suit, doing some kind of eighties disco move. too bad he doesn't have shutter shades] I forgot the point of dancing is to let loose!

[So does she! She does a little twirl on one foot, just barely managing not to fall over as she laughs right back.]

Yeah! N' if anyone else is judging, then they're being dumb 'cause they're not havin' as much fun as we are!

[he completely agrees with her, and even does a twirl of his own, that looks just ridiculous, and does earn him a few stares. but Osomatsu is fine with that. he doesn't really care what people think of him, unless it's like a really hot girl.

but even then, he's pretty comfortable in his own skin. and he's at least working off all the calories from the buffet.

he finally has to stop moving to catch his breath]

H-hey! Let's get a drink. Then we can come back.

[THAT'S THE SPIRIT, OSO. Get down with yo' bad self!

But okay, okay. Pausing! She can do that for his sake.]

Okay!

...Think they'll let me have anything fun?

[They most certainly won't. Her player is as horrified by the idea as anyone else would logically be. Unfortunately, she is just Like This.]

Anything fun? Ha! Yeah, right. [nope, all the fun is for him! for now, though, he just gets water. he'll grab a cocktail soon, though] Maybe in a few years.

Boo...

[Still, she's not complaining more than that. She'll just grab herself something highly sugary and caffeinated, because clearly that's a good idea.]

Fine, fiiiine. I'll be patient...

[geez, Millium! take care of yourself]

...This may be a stupid question, and you don't have to answer if you don't wanna. But... do you grow up like a normal human?

[You're not her real dad!!

She blinks, sipping on her soda absently.]

Mmm... it's not a stupid question, but I don't really have a good answer?

Kinda. But according to my specs, I'm gonna be mini-Millium forever. N' I don't really know what my lifespan would be compared to you guys. But it's not like I'm not aging otherwise.

[for some reason, Osomatsu figured that was the case, or he was imagining something like that. he knew that Millium wasn't a robot, but she was still... different, somehow.

he looks out at the dance floor again, feeling kind of sad for her. so she wouldn't get to drink anything fun ever, huh?]

You're lucky. [he finally says with a shrug] Bein' an adult is hard work! If I could be a kid forever, I totally would.

[Another sip.]

...Yeah. I would, too.

[She sounds a little wistful with that.]

I kinda started learning, back in school, but it's not like that's what I was there for. And now that the war is over n' C's dead, that's over, too. It's back to missions for me.

[relieable]

[????]

Will you always do missions? Forever?

[doublelammy]

[And now her tone of voice is alarmingly neutral:]

Prolly. 'Til either Gramps doesn't need me anymore or I die.

...n' with all the stuff I know, if Gramps doesn't need me anymore, I'll prolly die anyway.

[Sip.]

[oh... oh? what? does she mean that this Gramps would get rid of her?]

...Doesn't that scare you?

Not really.

I was made to be an Ironblood. I exist for Gramps' sake. If I'm not useful anymore, then that's that, and that's all there is to it.

But... It's not, though!

[he raises his voice a little, stomping his foot]

Whether you're useful or not shouldn't matter. You're a little girl, and you deserve to live your life to the fullest, your own way!

[That... earns a smile. A sad one, but a smile nonetheless.]
