WEEK 2: April 8th - April 12th

Second Week

Seven days have passed. Quite peaceful days, almost too peaceful. The town has welcomed you, excited to see tourists for the first time in many, many, many years. Some may have liked the peace, others may have been annoyed by it, but it was undeniable Cartesio seemed like such a nice and safe place it was hard to believe you had been told to kill each other.

But the threat is still up in the air. What's more: how much patience does the Sergeant have left?

Every time you take a look into the Lodge, you see the Sergeant. Lately he's looking more and more annoyed. Even though you can't see his face, you can feel he's getting frustrated. How long will it be before he lashes out and does something about these peaceful days?

Nobody in the town could suspect the harrowing times that'd befall Cartesio.

When you wake up on Sunday, you'll find new maps in the map rack and brochures on the table, showing places you hadn't noticed in the town before. Enjoy!

[The fact that it's quiet is why she's here rather than at the diner; she has no interest in billiards or darts and definitely not in drinking. Still, it means that she's present to see him try to order tea, and to hear his remarks afterwards.]

You'd probably get better service if you actually came here for what this place is supposed to sell, you know.

[amburere]

[ Y'know that's a fair point. But. ]

Aren't the residents supposed to be treating us to their great hospitality?

[robitussin]

I asked one of them for a ride out of town and they flat out told me they didn't have time for it, so.

[Although, after a pause...]

...Although, maybe I should be thankful for that, considering what happened to that one guy. Or presumably happened to him, at least.

[amburere]

Not surprised. [ Shrug. ]

Ah, the firebender. Maybe next fit he throws the Sergeant will toss his body at us for motivation.

[robitussin]

[She makes a face.]

Dude, don't even say it. He's going to hear you and take it as inspiration.

[amburere]

It'd be better than another whiny rant. He really does think we all work for him or something. [ But fiiiine. Only because he's not Bakugou and into being loud for no reason. ]

[robitussin]

[Despite herself, an amused noise comes from her mouth.]

Dude, you'd rather have someone throw a corpse at you than have someone fail to order you around?

[amburere]

First one's familiar enough, the second is just annoying. [ Can you fault him, really. Least they're sharing amusement. ]

[robitussin]

...You know what, I can't say I'm not curious in a morbid way, but I'm not going to ask why it's familiar for people to throw dead bodies at you.

[She looks like she Really wants to ask, though. Hm.]

[amburere]

[ Holds hand up placatingly. ]

I'm not shy.

[robitussin]

Oh, it isn't about you being shy. It's more like... How much am I going to regret knowing once I know? Probably a lot! So let's not.

[amburere]

Suit yourself. [ But then he adds. ]

It's the other way around, y'know. But mostly I just leave 'em there.

[robitussin]

[There's a fairly lengthy pause.]

...Yep. I was right. I absolutely regret asking.

[amburere]

My bad. [ He does not sound sorry at all. ]

The media likes it, I've heard.

[robitussin]

The media likes it when you...

[A frown.]

Okay, no, we should absolutely talk about something that isn’t dead bodies.

[amburere]

[ Selling newspapers and getting retweets is important, y'know. But he's willing to actually let her have this one. How generous. ]

Then you talk 'bout something, Nat. Unless you wanna talk 'bout Shogi.

[robitussin]

...My name's Natalie.

[But after that's established, she pauses to think of something.]

Who'd you see? On the screen, I mean.

[amburere]

[ ...noted, maybe! ]

My boss and the rest of the Vanguard Action Squad. They're probably driving him crazy, and he's probably tried to kill 'em a few times by now.

[robitussin]

[She pauses, regarding him again.]

I'm starting to wonder if you can go ten seconds without talking about killing people.

[amburere]

[ Shrug. ]

Just how the league works.

[robitussin]

Really? Is that one of the official rules? Constantly discussing murder?

[amburere]

Shigaraki tried to kill me within two minutes of us meeting.

[ ......so yes? It's all fine though! He does not really seem bothered about it, it happened, just another day. ]

[robitussin]

Okay, you seriously need to get better friends. Coworkers? I don't know. You also need way better standards if that's, like, normal and a thing you can just casually admit.

[this anime bullshit makes her Weary]

[amburere]

Coworkers. They're better than the rest of the trash that tries to follow in our wake. We get things done, even if it's unorthodox. That's kinda the whole point.

But thanks for your concern.

[ In a way, they're this weird disjointed family that looks out for each other even with the death threats. There's no real comment on his standards (and his sarcasm is readily apparent) cause while he does have them, they'd likely make little sense to anyone but him. And that's more effort than he's willing to expend right now. ]

[robitussin]

I'm not concerned.

[That's the most important thing to establish, in her opinion, but she continues on after a moment.]
