Fourth Week

A second murder shook the town of Cartesio. Clarisse's ambush plan ended with Katsuki Bakugou's death. Now what?

Nothing to be done other than continuing their life and watch what happens. After two weeks, after the deaths they have seen, it's hard to think there's a way out. The only option is to wait for the right chance to turn the tables and see a weak point in the Sergeant's plans -- and hopefully not see any murders.

The townspeople's attitude towards the tourists soured even more. The destruction of the church was much worse than anything they had seen so far, and they ran out of patience. People who in the past were nice and wanted nothing more than to make the tourists happy now aren't afraid of saying to their faces what's what. Random pedestrians shout at the visitors, telling them to stop being criminals. Although there are a few who have more patience than the rest, general opinion is clear:

The tourists are nuisances, to say the least.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

[Thirteen year old? Must be a family vacation, he figures]

[Congrats, Mr. Miller, you now have a story about Little Orphan Milly?]

Then why are you in this town by yourself? That's kind of...strange. And careless. And worrying because you're with all these people you say are strangers.

[He does sound worried]

Because I've been kidnapped and I'm very far from home. And now there are ghosts haunting my room.

[Millium, succeeding in the mission by just being herself and being honest.]

[ U-uhm, this is coming across very poorly, Cian can tell. And she's not sure coming across poorly is what they need with the way their reputation has been tanking... Sarge's words be damned.

Time to step in and place a hand on Millium's shoulder. ]

There's a lot of us who are taking care of the children regardless. We may not be related, but that doesn't mean we are irresponsible.

[cartesio]

Nice, nice, I wanted to hear that.

[Good, child services won't take Millium away]

Although you don't have a good record when it's about taking care of children. Court records have shown one was murdered recently, wasn't he?

[doublelammy]

[Wow, look, now you've made little shark girl sad.]

...Yeah. We were making friends...

[ Cian nods, there's no use to hiding it. ]

I'm just as shaken up about that as you are. Bakugou-kun and I had actively been planning community events too... It's hard to believe he's really gone.

[ Quite literally hard to believe, with how things have been going recently with blood and jukeboxes, but... ]

What's hard to believe he destroyed our entire church before getting killed.

[He doesn't sound like he has much sympathy for Katsuki, unfortunately]

But that's what you all proved during that trial of yours, anyway.

[ A-ahaha..... Uhm, yes. Awkward smiling. ]

We did, because we were committed to finding the truth. It was self-defense, but I won't deny that the damages are regrettable. We've been trying to clean up, but there's a lot that is impossible to restore...

[cartesio]

Right...

[He sighs]

I guess you do try to find the truth and are committed to justice...with what the court paperwork says and all...

[integratedsoul]

We all wanted to find the truth about the murder, at least.

It's been... challenging. Most of us haven't met before we started staying in the same motel, so we're not really a unified group, you know? Circumstance has brought us together and we're trying to work out how to coexist with each other and the townspeople as well.

It's.... not been going as well as I'd want. [ Understatement of the year. ]

Clarisse was one of the few among us who actually wanted to be constantly destructive. I hope you do not judge all of us based on her poor behavior.

[cartesio]

Oh, I'm afraid she's as much of a representative of you all as, let's say, that woman over there.

[He points at Kinzie because of her leg knife holster. She looks like she's ready to kill, in his opinion]

[doublelammy]

...Wouldn't you wanna defend yourself when people from your group keep dying and you don't even know how you got here?

[Lammy aside, Millium can at least pull off the part of a sad, frightened child for this one moment.]

[cartesio]

If you want to defend yourself from yourselves, you have to be more subtle. This? [He waves a pen, as if he was scribbling the air all over Lammy] This isn't subtle.

Although I do guess it means nobody will kill you if you have this...robot around, so good job there.

She did spend considerable time on them.

[Look. They don't have newspapers in the Deep City. Olympia doesn't know how to be interviewed.]

Okay, I can appreciate the craftsmanship, but there's such thing as going overboard.

[There it is, a compliment for Millium, even if it's followed by a complaint]

You were gonna stop the one fun part of the paper! So I had fun and did somethin' fun.

[Maybe they should write their own town newspaper. LOCAL JOURNALIST IS RUDE TO TINY ADORABLE LITTLE GIRL, INSUTLS HER ARTS & CRAFTS]

What was all that about sharks, again? I forgot why he was so worried about them.

I don't really know. I think I met him, like, once. It was fun, though. I liked it.
