Week 4: Investigation

A late frost has settled over Cartesio. Ice clings to the grass, to the variety show stage, not yet melted by the sun. How could it be, as it's yet to rise Friday morning?

It is only technically Friday, as the planned variety show reaches into its very final hour. Nearly everything on the schedule's been completed, and the cleanup process has begun.

That's probably why no one expects it, not now. Not this early. It's hard to miss, whether you're attending the show or getting some rest. After all, the sound, it comes from somewhere close to the motel. Somewhere close to the show.

Three gun shots ring out at one in the morning, echoing through the park. Something has gone very wrong.

[ "Be careful when walking, it's really cold right now." You fool, you absolute fool, Azura didn't even bring footwear, she's still in her dancer outfit with a coat draped over it. She can--actually, no, it's too cold even for her. Fuck that, she's going indoors.

She's grabbing her lance just in case, so...that's a sight. But what's there to be found inside the diner? ]

[ Please protect your feet, Azura.

In the main dining area, there's nothing that catches your eye. But, this place has been pretty active tonight, so maybe look around. Lucille lent it out to help cook for the variety show, after all. ]

[ When you go shoeless 24/7 you learn your limits.

Alright, she'll check in the back, near the kitchen and all, ignoring any weird looks she gets. She's on a mission. ]

[ The kitchen's open to you, Azura. What you'll find there is an open cookbook. ]

[ OH BOY. What delicious recipe are we looking at? ]

[cartesio]

[ Burgers! It's a rather simple recipe, for how to make a cheeseburger. ]

[ ...kay. Are there mystery blood splatters on this book or is Azura to assume the culprit just wanted something to eat before doing the deed? ]

[ You can assume whatever you want ;)

No blood splatters! ]

Anything else that stands out? She'll have another look around the kitchen before backtracking and looking around the back room/storage room (if it has one). ]

[ How willing is Azura to get her hands dirty? Nothing stands out immediately, but there's still something in the kitchen... ]

[ RELUCTANT BUT WILLING she'll just take her gloves off

What's up? ]

[ If she looks through the trash, she'll find a bottle of cyanide, with a napkin placed atop it. ]

[prayerwheel]

[ This is her destiny, digging through trash during the investigations.

Is it opened? ]

[cartesio]

[ It isn't open right now, but it has been opened. ]

[Eventually, Kino makes her way over here, following the lights from the police cars.

What have we got that Azura hasn't looked over?]

[ There's some things inside and something outside. Where would you like to start? ]

[Let's check the outside. Kino's been here often enough; anything off?]

[ Not immediately. The diner hasn't been vandalized or anything like that. However, near the bushes, she'll find a bottle laying on the ground. ]

[Hello bottle. Is it labelled or does it have any other particularly defining features?]

[cartesio]

[ It absolutely is. It's a bottle of Strychnine. Definitely do not ingest this. ]

[quickpersuader]

[Luckily, Kino has a policy of not ingesting strange liquids. She'll be taking that.

Anything else noticeable out here?]

[cartesio]

[ Well, to note, this is not a liquid. It seems to be a bottle of tablets.

Besides that, everything else seems inside, where Azura's trying to do a sweep of the area. ]

[Oh, even less reason to eat.

Seeing Azura inside, Kino looks between her and the bottle before deciding to leave the rest to her. Kino's going to need whatever rest she can get before the trial...]
