Fifth Week

Everything's getting worse. Rose Nylund and Frasier Crane murdered Jughead Jones during the event Jughead worked so hard to organize. Given some of the townspeople were in attendance, it didn't give a good impression -- if the visitors did this when trying to be good people and get along with Cartesio, then how will they behave once they get into destroying everything? The cruel method of Jughead's death also left everyone quite horrified, too.

That may be why it's no surprise the town's quiet unrest is slowly turning into real, tangible fury.

During the week, from time to time stones break some of the windows of the motel, looking outside shows a random passerby running away. Graffiti is left on the walls: 'SEE IF YOU LIKE THIS' 'MURDERERS' 'YOU'RE GOING TO DESTROY US ALL', and other similar messages. Some of the store owners hesitate when the visitors approach, but they don't refuse service because money is always nice.

The Sergeant's pervasive influence is starting to cover not only you, but also the entire town of Cartesio. After all, everything that's happening to you and the motel? It's the result of what you and the other visitors have done.

In the lobby of the motel there's a few more brochures, and the maps have been updated once again.

Have you explored it deeply?

No, because I'm not an idiot with a death wish. I could try, but I'm only going to do that if it's clear it won't piss him off.

Maybe... they were able to go to a part of it we haven't see?

But that still doesn't explain the darkness.

[Hmm.]

...There's a door he usually disappears behind when he's tired of answering my questions.

[She frowns, thinking.]

But - I wonder why that was important enough to tell us. I mean, is there a lot we can do with that information?

[quickpersuader]

Not yet. It might be something we need to wait on until we're sure we can take action without endangering ourselves too much.

[marmoron]

Maybe to warn us not to break in there.

[Look, you're talking to an idiot who has absolutely considered this.]

[robitussin]

I really hope nobody is considering doing that, regardless.

[marmoron]

It's not in the rules that we can't. With a decent team, we might be able to get inside and see what he's hiding.

[robitussin]

...He can kill us for things that aren't strictly in the rules.

[marmoron]

It's been a month and so far he hasn't. He killed Mako, Eric and the other guy because they either tried to leave or attacked him. Those things were specifically against the rules. \

[robitussin]

[She takes a moment, breathing in and out to avoid losing her temper, before continuing.]

Can you just take my word for it that he can change the rules whenever he wants? You think he's going to play fair if he starts feeling threatened?

[marmoron]

I'll take your word for it. But even so, if there's even a slight chance that we could learn something that might put a stop to this, then I'm not against taking the risk for myself.

[robitussin]

...Fine, but if you're going to be stupid and go no matter what, then I'm going with you.

[marmoron]

[Okay now that throws him off.]

....why would you do that?

[robitussin]

[She pauses, before giving him a look.]

Remember what I told you last week? Doesn't it make sense that it'd be the two of us, given that?

[marmoron]

...Let's talk about this later.

[quickpersuader]

I don't think we should break in, even with a decent group.

[Despite. Decisions made last night.]

Right now at least, it's too risky.

[marmoron]

But you're willing to start a fire inside a building that we had no way of getting out of?

[He wasn't going to argue with Kino about this, but he's exasperated as hell hearing this from her.]

You could've killed everyone there.

[quickpersuader]

The door had the heat sensors.

[So it's fine?]

[marmoron]

So the obvious thing to do would have been to get Dabi to hold up a fireball by the sensors. You don't just set the place on fire, Kino. You had no way of knowing that was going to work. It's one thing if you're only putting yourself in danger, but dragging everyone else into it -- what the hell's wrong with you?

[he was going to keep quiet, too, but now with Keith arguing, it makes him remember that he's really angry]

Who's it too risky for, anyway? The group, or just you?

[quickpersuader]

[It's fine, she's unaffected as ever.]

Both.

[relieable]

Why is sneaking into the lodge too risky, but putting a metal bowl in a microwave okay? Sakura-chan was right there.

If we keep the Sergeant busy with something else, a small group can sneak into the room while he's not looking.

[marmoron]

[There's a nod, but then also a raised eyebrow.]

I thought for sure you wouldn't be encouraging this.
